Default about the Roush 402R

Hi everyone:

Has anyone heard anything good about this engine?
I am wondering if I should drop it into my Cobra. It has a
2 year warranty and apparently has a Windsor block.

Thumbs up We have one........

in a Superformance demo car here at the shop. This is a very nice, sweet running engine. Plenty of power, 515HP/500 ft. lbs. of torque. Give me a call here and I'll be happy to fill you in.

Recently, I was challenged with the similar task of researching engines and considered Roush. They are nice people and have a "brand" name. However, my analysis told me my best - non emotional option both short and long term was a professional engine shop named Performance Engineering ph. 513-738-5001 located in Ross, Ohio.

My decision was based on their cobra engine experience, solid reputation, ability to use a pre 1972 block, and level of service. I posted a similar subject thread about Roush and was given numerous replies, emails and cell phone calls to use Performance Engineering engines. It might be worth a look for you.

I'm not sure of your situation in Ontario but in the States one has to really careful let me clarify EXTREMELy careful using a "new" block. Some states
require a pre 1972 block to pass emissions. Otherwise you are subject to costly alterations such as adding catalytic converters and / or annual repairs up to $650 justifying you tried to make your engine pass. If you're lucky they will give you a waiver once you spent the coin to try.

If you live in the States it is critical to study your emmison requirements carefully. It could be a very costly and disappointing move if done incorrectly.

Additionally, look at Cobra Country web site under cobras for sale...The ones with a new block crate engines take longer and sell for less. It is simple... you limit your potential buyers due to the States/ Cities where they live...the emission nightmare. Typically, the difficult emissions cities are the ones with the bigger population and the pocket books to afford these expensive toys. ..Example..New Jersey....pre 72 or ouch!...Virginia...pre 72 or forget it...

I hope this helps. Good luck with your research.
