TimG, the Scarab you saw at Road America was commissioned several years back by Lance Reventlow's half-brother. I believe the body was built by Troutman & Barnes as per the original three. It is at a very high spec, mechanically, sounds like a Nascar stocker going down the track, and is very fast as you might expect. It actually suffered a fire during the Scarab reunion weekend but it wasn't "fatal" and I'm sure the car is as new again.

Don Orosco, who currently races a Scarab F1 car and who for years owned one of the three original Scarab sports racers, also has a "replica". Cal saw it at Goodwood this past September, and there is a picture of it in my photo gallery. I believe it was built while Don still owned his original sports racer, and quite a few original spares were used, and from what I've heard is an absolute dead ringer for one of the original three. It must be, as Lord March welcomed it at the Goodwood Revival races.

There is also a company making fiberglass Scarab replicas. The most recent issue of, I think, Kit Car magazine has one on the cover. Doesn't look too bad but I'd like to see one in person.
