Default Cobra Tyres

Hi,

Does anyone have any advice for what tyres to use on 15in wheels (on the back mainly)?
I currently have 295/50R15 Cooper Cobras (What the car came with when I baught it) but I think they are only rated up to 118 mph. Most UK cobras seem to have 17in wheels but what about American ones? (Isn't 15in nearer to the original?)

Any help would be great!

unless you run race tires in 15 inch, which are poorly suited for everyday, street use, there are no tires i am aware of that are rated very fast, one of the best of these, though, are the Avid's. Goodyear is bringing out a replacement for the GT II's, but they are not yet in appropriate sizes, and i am not sure if they are speed rated higher than S or T. There is of course a vast variety of 17 inch tires, if your country requires tires that match the speed capability. If i were in Europe, i would run the 17's.

Thanks Hal,

I've just about come to the conclusion that I will have to replace the wheels for 17s

Ho Hum!! Just spent 000s on the car now another 2k for new wheels and tyres!

I think I'll stick with them as they are for the rest of the year (and not go to fast!!) Then look at changing next year.

Paul

MetaJacko,

Don't worry, i'm in the same vote. 2 tyres of mine where damaged during transport and i have the insurance to cover it. I got good advice from the club members and have been shopping around.

I think i too will eventually change over to 17inch rims as Hal said. But can't afford it at the moment.

Oh well.Good luck mate.

Skippy.
