am I welcome here?Dont seem so! Im a greenie of sorts but theres still room for these cars.Being from Utah and haveing those coal fired power plants is bad because most of some plants the power goes to califorina. For there remote polluting eletric cars.Remote polluting everything. My hell if the use they should live with it.The polluters are those folks who drive 100 miles to work. and sit at stop lights for 5 minuites every block. My 65 falcon makes black smoke when I get after it .but 1500 miles a year aint ****.

Gotta' Think on That One.....
Potato:
Not sure why you might think you're not welcome here. Diversity is what makes CC so great. Most of us try really hard to understand where other CC members might be coming from. Mutual respect is the key.
However, your post on this thread went right over my head. Especially when you wrote:
"My hell if the use they should live with it."
I'm either totally missing your point or it's so deep and profound I'm incapable of understanding it. Can you help me out here, I'm spinnin'.
Welcome to CC!

We in seveir county utah and milard county utah get to have a coal fired power plants in our area and all the power goes to calfornia.LA!We smell there there exhaust.Thats how they take care of there bad air by sending it here. They get the power we get the exhaust. The real greenies are those who think they got it right.
Why did it bleep the word. The potato comes from couch potato arm chair ballplayer.I thought it was funny by the way.

I Think I Got Most of That............
I get it (or at least part of it)!
Your electricity goes from east to west, their air polution goes from west to east.
Those two-faced California Greenies, can't trust any of them! If I lived in Utah, I'd write a really nasty letter to Governor Arnold. Maybe Utah could declare war on California? A bunch of Mormons on a mission should be able to kick some serious west coast, new-age, eco-butt. Don't ya' think?
Just a thought....................
Nevermind, it's early and I haven't taken my medication yet.

Being kind of a greenie myself.Isee that if we were to take measures Like they are crying about there would be more room for Cobras. It is always one way or the other.Im not getting on a right boat or left one. There are those who use so much power in there lifes. Now I hear they are proposing another power plant in Provo a few miles from the kirkhams..Oh my lord there are 10 lights 2 tvs and 2 computers on in this house. And there are 3 of us here.Took care of that!
One day I was in a large building and saw a 32 ford down on the street.I told my wife I would like that car.Which car she said. That one that guy is working on.Oh I see it.Just then a lady standing next to us laughed. She is the other side of the issue and cannot see what the deal is.

You Understand the Rest?
Stan:
Geez, you mean out of all what Mr. Potato has written, that's all you don't understand? LMAO
I haven't even begun to decipher what the Hell he's talking about.
This is almost as much fun as the time I got Evan to tell me I was right.
Hey, maybe we should get Mr. Potato and Evan together to debate what's "REAL". They certainly seem to be on different sides of the reality issue.
I gotta' go to bed now. This has got me all tired out.

C'mon guys, plain as the nose against the window. What if the Cobra was Green? Who would we see? The other side might see us going, but coming back again. I try not to use power, but spoiled power is money wasted. It doesnt grow with the trees. The deal is what we live to, if not for the other one. We should give some to others, but catch back what we can. It was sunny, but still chilly, and I had a hat on. I had a thought on this, but stubbed my toe on the desk. I still dont know who she said. Simple, really!

I've got an answer for the so called greenies that frown at me in my big old F100 4x4 as I thunder all over the place.
1. How much polution is created when an old car is scrapped? Yes you can melt the steel down and re use it but most of the plastics and other material get burnt or burried.
2. How much energy and resources are used in the creation of a new car. Also how much polution per car do all the factories that make the parts to go into that car make? how much polution is created in the mining and manufacture of the raw materials to make those new cars?
3. How much less polution does your brand new car make in comparison to my well tuned and reasonably sweet running old vehicle? Is it really that much less?
4. How much more polution is created in the restoration and maintenence of my old vehicle? Any where near as much as in manufacturing a new car? I think not.
The conclusion is that the auto makers want to sell lots and lots of new cars because they make lots and lots of money. It's in their interests to get people out of their old cars and into a shiny new car any way they can. By blaming old cars for poluting the environment they are using consumer guilt to drive their sales up. never mind the fact that the auto companies and supporting manufacturing and resource industries are responsible for a huge percentage of the worlds polution and the use of limited resources.
For the clincher I pop the hood on the old F100 and show them that it runs on propane which is cleaner burning and produces far less emissions than even their brand new car.
I am a true greenie.
Cheers

Mr. Potato,
Can I call you "mashed".
Contrary to others here on the forum, I have no problem understanding what you are saying. I think!
How do you feel about the Meaning of Life with or without iodine?
Thanks you sir!!

This has been the best thread since I signed up. I haven't had so much fun since the hogs ate baby brother! I find I'm not the only greenie in the crowd. Aussie Mike, you're OK. Driving huge pickup: suspect. Propane powered: AOK! I'll have to look you up when I attend the Melbourne Grand Prix *next* year. And while I've been warned about some Idaho folks being a little uptight, in spite of all that nice, dry powder snow, being home to the Kirkhams and Cobra (Homegrown) Spud makes Idaho OK with me. For the short term, I'm ready to buy an interesting Hybrid for day to day driving (haven't seen one yet), or converting to ethanol. Alky emits carbon dioxide, but we haven't invaded anyone yet for their corn. In the meanwhile, my Watts linkage is finally installed, the weather looks clear, and I'm ready to fire up my beast and go scare some women, children and small pets. I'll never be ready to run Laguna Seca with their wimpy 92 dB sound limit, but I am guaranteed to piss off my neighbors! Rich

The environment trembles as I approach, Spotted Owls, burst into a cloud of feathers, wild salmon leap out of the water to escape the terror. Trees and forest creatures alike are all a quiver, then I put my Cobra away and go back to work.

So Scott S you are a logger, you should be "ashame", I think I will get in my gas hog and drive as far from you as I can get.
By the way is it true we are now sending most of the logged redwoods to Japan?
