Question My first question

I have pontificated on a number of subjects here over the last several months since I became a member and I now have a question.

Last night, at a weekly classic car get together in Jensen Beach, I saw a Cobra replica like none I have ever seen. The entire nose of the car tilted forward to reveal the engine compartment. Unfortunately, the owner was nowhere to be found so here's my question.

Has anyone seen one of these before and who is the manufacturer?

Bill,

That would probably be a replica of the famous "Flip-Top" Cobra built by Ken Miles. It actually has a longer, more aerodynamic nose, too. Beautiful car.

Bill,
I only know of two "kits" that have had the nose custom made to tilt. A green one, and forgive me I have forgotten who made it, the other is one of our Double Venom II's, painted in a Dupont chromalusion blasberry color? Either one of these?

DV..if you ever go to tilt, you WONT go back!

DV,

It was red with white stripes. The interior was padded thoughout even up to the top edges of the doors and all the way around. Truly unique.

Bill,

Any Cobra can be converted to work this way. I've thought of changing mine. It just takes money!

Wel, here's DV II (#1): Definately not red and white. If it has padding on the top of the doors, and the same padding on the back of the cowl, then my guess would be a custom made "West Coast Cobra" replica. ???

DV... Anybody seen Spring?

Well thanks for your help guys. Since this thing happens every Tuesday night, there's a good possibility that I'll see it again. If I do, I'll park myself by the car and wait for this guy to come back. I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks again!

Bill - If you can, take some pictures of the car, especially the tilt mechanism, please.

Default flip front

Bill V,
If it was a long wheelbase PRO STREET type car with 14-16" treads on the rear, it was probably a COBRA351 Supergas Car.

There is an Emerson Cobra that is a race replica that has the full tilt front end. But it is white with Blue stripes. It should be showing up at Thunderhill this Summer. But this is not any attempt to copy the original flip top Cobra. Just makes it a lot easier to work on the engine. After seeing this I may saw mine in half.
