..........That's the baby! Does anyone know where the car is today?
Computorworks - you're the man. There's other pic's out there as well. I remember seeing some of the car sitting in a warehouse and you could see the rims. Neat color car (different).

I would guess that the FIA car is now in Rome, judging by the chariot wheels it`s fitted with!

Ernie...
....Mr. Diaz is no longer part of "the loop" and has no interest in this matter. He was (is) a gentleman who loves the cars and wanted to help save AC. The posistion he held was offered to me but I was unable to participate financially.
I do not believe that Gabriel wouild be able to add anything to this dialog currently.

The AC car is currently under wraps at Ronnie Kruger's facility in Virginia and has my name emblossed on it's MSO.
I've been trying to obtain the car for a side by side comparison between the Superformance and Shelby CSX 4000.

The last time I saw that FIA car I was hanging out of the upstairs window at Frimley, taking snaps of it and the staff of AC Autokraft for their press release, and it definitely had the correct wheels fitted. Who walked off with them?

The wheels didn't fit properly, per Diaz and were sent back to supplier in CA at one point.

The wheels
supplied were 1" wider than the original FIA wheels. To allow full lock on the fronts the tie rods must be bent, something I understand was done on some of the original FIA cars.
There are pictures of COB1001, the bare alloy FIA I had with the wheels on in my gallery.
Durn purty cars!

All true. And it seems the rear wheel interference was caused by the expanded rear emergency brake bits not being retracted propoerly and preventing rolling during its initial trip to Amelia Island and the Palm Beach Polo Club.
Not good for a roller not to roll.

?????Please excuse my ignorance but what was the purpose of the two left and right ledges formed on the trunk just below the logo and above the license plate light???? I don't see this on all of the FIAs. How many were built like this??, er original FIAs, that is.

per the Registry : "altered trunk contour ( to accommodate FIA SUITCASE )"
My understanding of that in layman terms : Required per later FIA European altered regulations. hence the squared 'notches' protruding from the trunk outward, so that the required suitcase could be contained within the trunk, the 'squared off' protrusions allowed the squared corner suitcase to fit . Bill.

I believe that the marks appeared as a result of someone slamming the bootlid(...sorry, trunk!) down ont the regulation FIA suitcase... All the FiA cars would have had to accomodate the suitcase, so was the lid slammed on ALL of them
or were they panelbeaten to fit??

NIKBJ68 :
the SLAMMING of the boot may have become the 'prototype'. LOL...the registry suggests the 'bumps' were panel beaten as they say "altered trunk contour to accommodate FIA suitcase', suggesting it was a running change due to required suit case. but hey, i am guessing..someone here must know the facts ! bill
