Wink Kirkham build

Well the build up journey is almost realized and finished.

I bought KMP 267 body and chassis on E-Bay on 9/11/03. The Kirkhams finished the car to a complete roller with the side pipe holes precut. They also bleed the brakes before the car was shipped by Richard Lacy. Rich delivered the car within 1 hour of his estimated ETA, extremely professional and personable service. I tell ya', you just can't imagine how awesome these cars are until you see it in person rolling out of the transporter!!

My engine was delivered on January 14 and I transported my car to Jay Peppler who installs the drivetrains in the DFW area csx cars. It is a Aluminum block shelby engine stroked to 484 cubic inches with a holley performance carb with mechanical secondaries. Approx 550-575 bhp!! David Kee in San Antonio built the trany. David Kirkham convinced me to go with a wide ratio box and 3:23 rear end gears. All that is left is the header and side pipe installation and it will be ready to go!!

Photos of car and build are in member gallery side oil'r 69.

I haven't been this excited in my whole life, these cars are awesome!!

Micheal,

Great gallery.

Isn't anyone going topaint one these Kirkhams??

I noticed that one picture had a young driver sitting in the front seat. Hide the keys when your car is complete or there might be REAL excitement!

Congrats and enjoy.

Michael,
You have captured the essence of what an ownership is, in short few paragraphs. I can see your smile all the way from here.

Don't ever loose it. That is what all this fuss is about.
It is not a business, it is a hobby, well maybe even better and bigger than a hobby. It is a passion!
Enjoy it in good health.

Michael, absolutely beautiful. Hope you can make it to the TCC meet in Austin at the end of the month. Right now we've got about 90 cars signed up and no Kirkhams as far as I know, so join the party--

Hey Bud Man Jim,

Thanks, I have been looking for # 142 out on the road! I have that poster from the Kirkham's for you. I think I will be driving # 267 next week weather permitting.

Hello Mr. Bolte,

I have enjoyed your photo gallery multiple times! You are welcome to come up from Waco any time, just give me some notice. Could you bring CSX 4039, I think my car will want some company.

Just got to thinking....

I wonder how much of the excitement that these cars generate gets back to the guys in Poland. Maybe you Kirkham buyers, and believe me - I wish that I could be one, could circulate some kind of message around to each other, each adding some comments and the forward it off to the factory. I know that the guys in our factory always like to hear from the customer on a job well done.

Mike:

Ol' 142 has been on the rack for a couple of days as I am re-wiring the fan circuit to accommodate a variable temperature fan setup. Also dropping in a 160 degree thermostat. Should be done by Saturday morning.

Lets link up this weekend. I appreciate you thinking of me with the poster, and look forward to seeing it!

Mike,

1st off congrats and it looks like someone else will be driving before me. At this rate, I should just stand by and watch and live vicariously. Judging by your serial #, did you do a hybrid? Great thread to ground us all in why we hang out here. TURK, well said as well.

Hey Toy Collector,

My car is a KMP 427 s/c not a hybrid. It has a powder coated black frame and the aluminum suspension components.

When is your engine going to be ready? Did you go for a stroker?

OK, stand corrrected. Saw the MH after your serial # and thought that may be a new marking for the hybrids. My motor is running and I just have some finish work to do on the exhaust. Went with a stoker motor using an offset ground 391-T crank.
