Best way to Remove Paint from an Aluminium Grille?
The 1969 Ford F350 ramp truck that I recently bought (it was owned by none other than Mickey Thompson; I have paperwork to prove it.) had the aluminum grille painted the same color as the truck, with automotive paint. What is the best way to clean off the paint, and bring this grille back to its shiny glory? Aluminum Jelly? A sandblaster? any good ideas? Thanks in advance!

Now, how is that?
Hmmm, any kind of chemical bath (i.e. Aircraft Stripper) would potentially etch the aluminum....not good. I wonder if a place that specializes in chrome plating would offer some advice...they would have to strip it somehow.

Deano: I have an ORIGINAL bill of sale, and an ORIGINAL Non-op slip, both signed by Mickey Thompson Hisself!! What if I soaked the grille in paint thinner?

Media blasters sound OK; are these somethings I can rent? Should I just take the grille off and take it somewhere? Will paint thinner work?

I have used "Wash Away"paint remover and it never etched the aluminum. I would stay away from "blasting" it. All it did was "crinkle" the paint off.
