Default Cheap Cobra on Ebay

Check out item # 2462176220. 427 SO, 5 speed, 9" rear.
Buy it now for $9K?. The running gear with wheels are worth more than that. Anybody know which kit it is?

Even fairly knowledgeable and generally honest people think they have side-oilers, when they actually have something else. They are often either mis-identified or mis-represented.

I'm having trouble believing this one.

Seems a bit suspect. Elsewhere in the ad it says the the engine is a "428 L". Even if it were a 428, it would still be a good deal, but I too am having trouble believing.

Me thinks somebody made a boo boo when listing the car.

It looks like a nice car (at least the pictures are) and appears to be an FFR. At any rate, the car pictured is way too nice to be legitimately offered at that price.

It's either a boo-boo, or bait-and-switch.....methinks.

How much is a brand new kit unassembled? Minus running gear, most aren't much less than 9K right? Definitely there is something unsaid about this deal. I noticed that this auction was only for bidders on a pre-approved list. What does that mean? It said you could email the seller to be put on the list, but I wonder what that is all about.

Default scam alert

Ok I went to ebay and that is a trick! he has the same 68 mustang gt up for bid using different I.D. last time I alerted ebay fraud and they pulled from auction he still had the nerve to e-mail me looking for cash. LOve to find this guy and be investigated or have run over by some members of our club.

I havent seen the ad,but i will bet it says preaproved bidders only, and shipping included,,if so it is definately a scam, these crooks hack in and steal ebayers passwords so they have good feedback, there are maybe 10 new harley deals like this everyday,,

What's up with the pre-approved bidder thing? What are these people gaining by doing this? listing vehicles at buy it now prices way less than they are worth and it being a restricted auction. I'd like to know what the scam is. How do they benefit? Anyone know?

They get to verify that you have that kind of cash on hand.

Uh-huh...

Notice that his location reads "send me an email". Yea, right. Go ahead and send that email... if you dare. I'll betcha a dollar that one hour after the auction ends you start getting 200 unsolicited emails a day for everything from low interest loans to tally-whacker enlargers.

Somewhere in Pakistan is a guy waiting for that $3000 wire transfer deposit that's due within 24 hours after close of auction. After you wire the money, he pulls the plug. Gone. Vanished.

No thanks.

This could be a Miata donor car with a replica body on it.

The guy is also selling a BMW Z3 for $10,000 and $7-10,000 is what these go for if the donor car isn't too beat.

His ID is verified so his SSN was verified by the credit bureau eBay uses for persons having transactions > $15000. (Equifax?)

But, if you can't inspect a vehicle prior to getting involved, it's not worth the potenial problems.

How convenient that you can't review some of this guy's prior deals. He switched from only a buyer to only a seller. That's strange.

Chuck

Default Scam

I had a guy on ebay e-mail me a photo of a team jacket after I bid on an actual one. He claimed to have and all I had to do was wire transfer to France for $800 and he would send it. He wasn't an ebay seller, just a scammer. His photo was one taken out of a book. I alerted Ebay and he disappeared.

Has anyone tried to alert e-Bay? I went to the site, but couldn't figure out how to do it for a suspicious ad. They certainly do not make it user-friendly to alert them to possible fraud, prior to the sale. There are plenty of options to report after the sale.

Of course, I'm sure there's a reason for that. They don't really want to hear about suspicions prior to a sale.

But, isn't it hilarious that there have been no bids as of the last time I looked?

BTW...it certainly does look like one of those overseas e-mail scams.

I contacted Ebay Fraud dept. again on this and on the GT 500 convertible which was offered for legitimate sale close to a year ago in N.J. I remember the ad. They must save the Pictures and details then wait awhile and steal eBayers names and pass words. They then do the pre approved thind to make you feel secure in the transaction. Conning you to believe they are the ones making sure you are real when in essence they are not. I speculate at last check 10,000 people viewed that GT 500 for a Buy it Now price of $29,000 dollars. out of that I bet 1000 people e-mailed asking to be approved for the sale. out of those 1000 lets say 10 fools sent the $3000 deposit thinking they got the deal of a lifetime. when they realize they got burned, are they going to admit they got screwed? imagine telling your wife, or your friends you sent 3 grand to somebody on the internet for a car that is not there...... chances are they do not report it either as the likelihood of getting their money back is about as good as Saddam Hussein getiing his money back! If it's too good to be true, it most surely is!
