nikbj68, yes it is true according to SAAC that the movie studio which produced "Cobra" with Stallone actually GAVE him both a 289 and a 427 which he promptly sold a couple of years later. No taste!!!

wait a minute...are you guys talking about the movie where 'Sly' rides around in a sled & cuts pizza with scissors? It seems to me HE should have been paying someone for making that silly movie!
Well, I guess he paid his dues with that "wife" he put in the movie...
Lets get back to Gumball!..."emergency plan alpha....?"

jwinkler 02-27-2004 02:42 PM

OK, now that the thread has become Gumball favorite quotes ...

Gary Busey (in his best role besides Mr. Joshua in Lethal Weapon) -
" Whah'ont chew hurr-yup? Ah'm goan' hafta fix ever-thing you did."
and
"Put it on 150 - if he catches us, I'll eat mah Airedale"

Then there's the old Mercedes team, quoting Henry V while warming the blood with some aged single-malt.

And Franco's first lines (delivered as only Raul Julia could) -
girl - "... be careful."
Franco - " Aye cahnnot do what Aye mahst, and be cahrfal."

Yeah, I guess you could say I like that movie.

The Gumball Rally

It's fast, funny and outrageously illegal. It's the grandaddy of the
many cross-country speed spectacles that have raced across movie screens in the past two (three now) decades.

quoted from the VHS jacket.

Franco pulling off and throwing out the rearview mirror and his
famous quote is wonderful.

1976. reissued in 1992.

PDHse 02-28-2004 02:53 AM

Im pretty sure that i read somewhere in the Gumball Rally ex Shelby Cobra racer John Morton plays the Jaguar driver/mechanic. Can anyone clarify that?

maxrpm 02-28-2004 06:04 PM

I know that the actors driving the Van & white two-piece corvette were prof. stuntmen and the actors did their own driving.

McCobra 02-28-2004 09:47 PM

I remember the movie, but it's been a while.
Tried no less than 4 Blockbusters and 3 Hollywood Video stores looking for almost as much as I would--a big Saturday night....
Where are you guys having luck finding it?

Cobra4Me 02-28-2004 10:49 PM

There's another movie with a Black Cobra called "Point Doom", kind of a sucky movie but Shots of the Cobra are plentyful with a nice Blonde and a biker spitting at the Cobra...
check it out, rent it, watch it with your significant other but put the kids to sleep....

I think I will just go and rent it again... I need to be reminded why I love this car so much... but hate people who try to control our lives...

I always wondered why the Cobra was red on the Gumball Rally Video case & posters......

After failing to stop the 'Gumballers' AGAIN, raising his eyes to the sky,
with agony in his voice...

"Why....WHY ME????? "

Booming voice from nowhere...

" Coz you`re an (G)asshole, Roscoe....that`s why! "

Of course, there's a chase scene between the Cobra and a Monkee driving that behemouth of a vehicle, The Monkeemobile. The two cars are racing on this tight, twisty road, but for some reason, they felt the need to cheesily speed up the film. Low and behold, the 6,000lb Monkeemobile beats the '65 World Champ. Ah, Hollywood.

Records for the sixth car were lost in the mid-1970s. For a long time car historians and collectors feared the sixth car was lost. In 2001 the car was rediscovered in a rental storage unit in California.[3] The owner Donna O'Hara had committed suicide by burning herself alive.[4] The car had remained undiscovered for almost 30 years. Due to its estimated worth of over $4,000,000 the car was part of an extensive legal battle between her mother who sold the car to a collector in Pennsylvania, and a friend of Ms. O'Hara who was the recipient in her will of the contents of the storage unit. An earlier owner of the car appears to have been music producer Phil Spector who had been known to drive it on the streets of Los Angeles.[5] Built for high-speed sprints, the cab became uncomfortably warm as the car engine heated up, among other problems. "It wasn't a street car; it was a race car", Shelby said. Still, Spector drove it on the streets, and legend is that Spector racked up so many speeding tickets, his lawyer advised him to get rid of the car before he lost his license. This car was featured in "The Monkees" episode, "The Monkees Race Again" (aka "Leave the Driving to Us"), originally aired on February 12, 1968.

The awesome part of waiting so many years to revive the thread is that good news abounds; Gumball Rally is available on DVD and Blu Ray.

redline 7000 where they crash a daytona in a ditch
cobra ferrari wars
victory by design

"The Killers" from 1964 was Ronald Reagon's only role as a bad guy. This was first made for TV movie and deemed too violent for TV and re-released in theaters. Our future president slaps the crap out of Angie Dickinson.

Gotta go with "Gumball" or "Hollywood Knights", though.

Dwight 12-14-2012 07:51 PM

my vote would be The Gumball Rally and The Cobra Ferrari Wars.

Dwight

eight and half years. yep, may be a record.
