CSX3240 Information
I got the great opportunity to view and photograph CSX3240 yesterday! I talked with the original owner and he shared some of his "left them in the dust" stories! 
I asked him if he knew of the registry and he did not. So, I'd like to find out what I can about this car. Computerworks; do you have anything you can share? If it is one of the "mystery" serial numbers, I can help get the owner in contact with you.
The car is in (my opinion) great shape. It has just under 20K miles on it and hasn't been driven since the late 60's. It has all the original equipment on it and it all still looks pretty great. A little wear and tear on the paint, but nothing major.
Anybody have any idea on market value? The owner mentioned something about a lamborghini or <ugh> ferrari.

If it is an original 427 Car which the serial suggests...and I don't have my registry at home right now but I would guess somewhere in the mid to high 200's almost 300.

With that CSX number it should be one of the first 60 Comp cars they built with single four barell 427s. Also 40 gallon fuel tanks. If the car is in as good of condition as stated, I would guess it should bring in the $350 - $500K range. If there is any racing history associated with it that will bump the price up.

As of 1997 the whereabouts of this car was unknown to the Registry.
Red/Black - Cost $6400.00 - Sold new to T. Dan Yoshida by Jack Loftus Ford in Hinsdale Ill in July 1966.

As Pat said, CSX3240 has been under the radar for quite a while. I have no pics or data on the car...so, I would love to see the pics you took.
As well, you should strongly encourage the owner to contact Ned Scudder ( Nedsel here on the forum)..

Ron, to the contrary... CSX3240 is a street car; The Comp - S/C's have s/n in the CSX30xx range only.
CSX3240 is in the range of the round-taillight cars that mostly came with 2x4 428's.
These cars on the market today seem to be trading in the high-$200k - low $300k range, based on configuration and history.

Thanks for correcting me. I knew the first 60 were comp cars and after reading your correction I went back and looked and it said 3240, not 3040 as I had misread it. Man, as I get older nothing seems to work right any more. Now the eyes are going too.

I just misread the CSX number as 3040 instead of 3240. The later 427s had the dual 4s and that was what I was referring to when I said the first 60 Comp cars had the single 4 barell. As I said, when you get as old as I am everything that doesn't hurt doesn't work.

Rates a "wow" as an unmolested one-owner car!
..looks like it has a smaller carb than the the one on Jim Maxwell's 3288..

As you've noticed, I uploaded what pics I took. As always, once I got looking at the pics, I didn't take enough (or good enough)! Oh well, I guess I'm going to have to visit that relative that lives by him more often... 
The owner is the original Mr. Yoshida. He said he paid $7200, but for what it's worth now, who's counting?
Mr Yoshida doesn't have email, so I might contact Ned myself (or you can contact me Ned) to see if I can fill in the gaps. I told Mr. Yoshida about the registry and asked if he minded if I checked into it, so I don't think he'll mind. What would you be looking for? Just a set of pictures of the car? I could help facilitate if you like.
So, 428 or 427? I'm not good enough to know the difference from the look I had. Don't you have to basically get a look down below to see the area around the mains for the block shape?
So with the pics, whaddya think he's sitting on $$ wise?

An amazing discovery! The car is in great shape, all things considered. Showing it's age, but remarkable how well it seems to have aged.
I would think long and hard before I had it "restored", if I did restore it at all.
1. How many un-restored Cobras are left?
2. Of those, how many are as in good a shape as this one?
Can't say I'm always pleased with the results of a "restoration". To often, like Clay suggested, it is molestation instead!
We are truly witnessing an historic moment right now!
Does indeed appear to be an Autolite carb, standard Ford issue back in the day.

CSX3245 is currently for sale. Looks like a very nice restored street car.
CSX3240, unrestored.
IF both cars were selling for the same money, which would YOU prefer to own?
......tough call I think.

Awesome Find indeed! Now how many Sharks are in the water swimming towards Mr. Yoshidas House with open Checkbooks!! If you are buying, do it quick! If you are his Friend helping an original owner realize he made a Great investment in 1967, Help him get the most he can for the Car. Simply priceless when you really think about it....
