Lots of kits available, any that have provisions for multiple engine configurations?
I liked the Everett Morrison kits, but I just recently looked and they do not have a kit available for anything other than the FE engines. I liked that I could put in a sb chevy. Are there any companies that make a kit to put in a sb chevy engine? Sorry if you are all ford guys. I just like the cobra. Not partial to any certain make myself. When I was putting a 460 in my mustang way back when I think a fully dressed 385 series is around 800lbs. I am sure an FE is that and more. I think an LS1 or the new LS2 is much less, and I could probably get 25 in the city with one coupled with a 6 speed. This is my thinking and why I think I would be able to do this. (so let the ripping begin)

We don't want you bow tie boys around here!! Welcome to the forum. Put whatever motor in the car you want. One of the most famous Cobras here is powered by a Viper engine. It also just so happens to be up for raffle!!!!
I'm not the mechanical expert, but I think most kits, with some possible mods, will accept most motors. I'm not sure of who has what kit, but I know of Cobras with...SB chevy, BB chevy, mopar, turbo Buick V6, Lexus V8, on and on....
Welcome and best of luck.
Steve

It's not about miles per gallon, it's about smiles per gallon.

Bob Kallio of Midstates can help you out. My midstates has a BBC and 87 vette suspension, brakes, steering etc...
Call Bob. He is one of the nicest in the business. Family oriented and always willing to help out. Midstates are great folks to work with.
Good luck from another guy with the motor in backwards.

Classic Roadsters II will also accomadate just about any combination you want. Order the kit, tell them what morot and tranny you want and it will come with the correct transmissioin mount and engine frame mounts! Do it all the time.
Now if you want to talk about installing Viper V-10's in one, I think I may be able to help out in that aspect too!
DV...The train is out of the station and running full blast!

Ernie said it.
It is all about smiles/gallon. If you want to put in a Bowtie engine GO FOR IT! Great engines with great prices.
Heck, I even have a customer who put in a Ferrari engine--no kidding.
Put in whatever makes you happy and drive it with a smile.
Welcome to the club!

Hunter Kit Cars can set up their kit for just about any engine. Randy Hunter recently set one up for a Viper motor.

Try Hunters Kit cars. Nice kit at a good price.

We used his kit to build our demo car and it has worked well for us. Check the pictures, if you are interested, I posted on this site.
Hey Pete were you been? Get any more work done on your car??

Ready,
I have an EM and it is a very good kit. They used to configure the frame for what ever engine you wanted. The new Gen 4 the may have trimmed down the offical ofering but I'd give them a call.
I my case I ordered the frame to be setup for a 302 with an auto tranny. At the last minute I switched the tranny to an AOD. The made me a custom cross member to make it fit.
Like the others say. It's YOUR car. Build it YOUR way.

Ready,
When I got my EM they still offered Chevy engine configurations. I'm surprised to hear they don't anymore. I see you are a fellow Minnesotan. Classic Roadsters II (previously mentioned) is located in Sauke Center. It would be worth the trip to visit Don Scott and tour his shop. There are two Cobra owners in the Twin Cities with Chevy engines that I know of (I don't associate with them) , so you won't be alone.
