...why bother about these.

Why not just bid an astronomical amount, just for giggles.
The listing will be pulled anyhow.

C'mon, Bill... go throw a $200k bid on it, just for the hell of it.

100% fraud. Link to their "Showroom", telephone number listed is non-working number.

Fraud report sent to e-bay.

Hell, I'd fall for it. What points out its a scam? What do you look at that tells you it is a scam? Not that I would ever buy anything on ebay anyway, but it would be good to know.

There have been a dozen or so discussed here over the last few weeks. Many are using 'stolen' eBay logins to create the sale of "eye-candy" cars, like Cobras, Muscle cars and Hot Rods.

The earmarks seem to be shorter-than-normal auctions, ultra-cheap prices (the Cobra today had a Buy-It-Now of $7900....good thing Ernie didn't see it. ), descriptions that are hyped-generic, and don't seem to match the car illustrated.. and, most obvious, a private-bidder auction, where the bidder must make e-mail contact with the seller, prior to bidding. All of these e-mails seem to ask for a few thou as a deposit, with promises of prepaid shipping.

Once it get called in, the scam listings disappear quickly, being pulled by eBay's Safe Harbor team.

That's what I mean... we should drop a ludicrous bid on any scam that get spotted, just to "mark it" as such, until it gets pulled. Nothing like a half-million dollar bid to queer an auction.

...it will be pulled down, anyhow....why not have fun with it?

Ron,
Thanks for the lesson. I just got nailed a week or two ago with the Wells Fargo Bank fraud login (what a mess that turned into), so I'm trying to learn "whats real and whats fake"
Thanks.
