I'm not sure at all, just trying to be encouraging to someone about to........ loose his ass? ( ).
The shop has a good reputation perhaps the owner (after he posts bail of course) will take care of everybody?
Or is he up to his a$$ in alligators trying to drain the swamp and in a full blown survival mode?
Like I have a clue.

Well, it's finally started. I cried "wolf" for so long, even I was wondering if it was going to happen. People this IS just the tip of the iceberg. I assure you "IT" is coming east at a high rate of speed.
For those that used titeling company's like "TU", start NOW to get your act together. I do not know how you're going to do it, but get your car registered properly and then forget about it.
DV...My best guess is, Michigan is next, then New York, then Ohio, and on and on. It's just like the Fling it will continue to go on and on and....

OK guys, I don't know every detail, but I can tell you that HOC up for sale or closing has nothing to do with the arrest warrant and Titles Unlimited stuff, it was a business decision between Dean and Dave. I spoke with Dave Shapiro today, he says they have six cars there, three are consignment cars that he is waiting for the owners to come and get (and he was surprised the cars were not picked up yet), and three are getting their work finished as promised. I don't believe there is any bank coming to padlock the place, they have decided on their own to get out of the business, so I don't think there's any red tape coming either. Of course, this is what I heard over the last several weeks, so ymmv.

I like to think the best, take the high road, be encouraging and all that.
As a businessman myself there is no way the investigation of TU and several SPF owners which started MONTHS ago did not play some roll in the decision to sell. Current circumstances will certainly make a sale now "problematic" at best.
Glad to hear they will finish customers cars (hopefully). Right now you can bet it has GOT to be hitting the fan over there. I feel bad for them and take NO joy in their delimna.

While you may be right, the decision to sell/close has also been going on for a long time, this was not a snap decision. In fact, I personally looked into buying HOC last year, and they were interested in selling, but I decided against moving forward for my own reasons.

Excaliber,
I'm wondering why you didn't think that news about warrants being issued was appropriate for CC at the time? After all, it was and is public information.
HOC may be closed down, but I did see one of the other people in question doing business as usual at Knott's 2004.
If I was under contract with any of the parties in question, I certainly would have appreciated as much advance warning as possible.
By the way, wasn't the person I saw at Knott's in trouble for the very same thing a couple of years ago?

I posted in a more "discreet" forum than here to gain some insight from others who may have had personal knowledge of the facts and/or "players". Kind of like notifying next of kin before going public I guess.
I figured the SPF group would be posting the info shortly, kind of surprised it took so long. Just didn't feel it was my place to rain on their parade.

Thanks Ernie.
Your descretion is admirable, I just think that once the government went public all's fair.
Like I said, I think this is round two for some of the players.

Whew....
Spoke with Dave Shapiro yesterday and all is GOOD. They are completely stepping up to the plate to take care of me.
The engine is roughly 85% done and they are going to transition me to another shop here in So Cal that has been around for 20+ years, along with one of their guys that is going to work there. I will need to trailer the roller from San Diego to Costa Mesa. Hopefully I will be road ready by May 20th-ish.....
With all of the horror stories out there, I can't tell you how good it is to see a group of people still focus on the customer, even as they prepare to close the doors. Whatever the circumstances for their closing, hats off to Dave and the crew at HOC for taking care of their customers!!!

Thanks Ernie..... and...
No, Hillbank was not the next option, thank goodness.
Now the fun part will be ensuring the 'handoff' goes smoothly and the timelines stay where they are...... Ahhhhhhh, the fun of it all.
