Default Tom Thompson

It saddens me to report that long time Club Cobra Tom Thompson passed away last Tuesday, having never recovering from a heart attack earlier in the month. Alot of CC members have corresponded with Tom on different forms, and some of us had the opportunity to have him share a laugh, help with a tech problem, or play on the track at Sears, Laguna, or Thunderhill. Awhile back we were both sharing how we each missed our cobras (he sold his comtempary, I my ERA) but how much the experience gained us a new family of friends. I know as I check my mirrors next month at the Nor-Cal Mini Nats It will be hard not to see him getting ready to pass me in his new Z06. Thanks Tom. You will be missed.

Terry,
You should still check your mirrors. Adjust them a little higher until you see the blue skies. He will be there right on your ass, and he will probably still pass you.

He sent me a private email a year ago or so, and swore I was the funniest man on the Internet. I will never forget that. Not that I believed him, just that he took the time to write such a thing over some silly thing I wrote. Don't even know what it was.

Here is looking up to you Tom.

He told me I could have the Z06!!

I liked Tom, a very upbeat guy.

He used ti email me alot about his car, we both had Contemporarys and we were the 'keepers of the flame' so to speak.

My condolences go out to Tom's family and all his friends.

Question Going to Toms service, anyone?

I will be going to Tom's memorial service and would like to either ride with or take anyone else from around here who will be going. "Around Here" is either Santa Cruz or Santa Clara County, or on the way along hwys 680/580 or 101 from Gilroy north.

Please send me an email or call my cell if you are interested in some company on the way to Novato.

All the best,
Randy Klein

Default Time; the only thing you truly own

Folks:

I am deeply sorry to learn that Tom T is no longer with us.

Over the course of the past several years I have dialoged from time to time with Tom T. both "on line" and off concerning a number of subjects. Sadly, I never met him in person but considered him to be a kindred spirit with much in common besides our chosen professions and our mutual passion for things automotive. What came through time and time again were his level headed views that reflected a balanced view of life; idealistic, ethical, realistic and pragmatic all set forth in clear and concise language. Often his was the voice of calm reason when a particular thread topic was heating up (as they are wont to do here from time to time).

Our lives are all a little less for his passing.

Jim

I thought that, on the eve of Tom's memorial service, that I'd bring this back to the top in the hope that others will read and remember him for his contributions.

All the best,

Smile

Sorry to bring this back up to the top.

I was cleaning out my private message box just now because it was full. I came across a very kind note from Tom complimenting me on a presentation I gave to the Cobra club in SF, California at Tony Romas quite a while ago. The note was so kind I have kept it for all these years. I think I will keep it there.

One day I will see him again in the great race track in the sky.

David
