Some time ago I saw pictiure of a Nissan in Mexico City that had a large Rattlesnake entwined in the steering wheel, It was given to me by a vendor that we bought car alarms from.
Just pack it up each morning and head out.

OK, I thank everyone for their replies! I am considering purchasing a car cover from California Car Covers, I assume they have to be custom made? I'm an electrician ( should have been a doctor... or a plumber) I have a keyed disconnect switch, an isolation relay that has to be energized to complete the start circuit, a 9mm, knife, claw hammer, garden hoe and 25 years in the martial arts... not that I'm paranoid or anything. I think the best idea I've heard is tipping security and valet attendants.

Must be nice to live in the midwest or west coast. On the east coast , cover the car and a 20ft choker cable 10ton rated and a master lock. It comes with an insurance policy on it. lo-jac is also in the car. I like the rattlesnake idea for the summer time but it's unfair to the snake to bite some piece of crap trying to steal your car. California Car Covers
Made me a custom cover for my larger than normal cobra.. from info given them in a phone call. It fits perfectly, to my amazement. Expensive but worth every penny.
I too have a battery cut-off and a club, for use when I finally get her ready for road trips (hopefully late this year.. it's a long story) the idea being to slow them down long enough for me to respond with a flashlight and suitable hardware, after dialing 911. When we are out at a pool hall or such I always park her right outside the window from our table so I can watch her closely. It's very amusing to watch the reactions.. kinda like a comedy show. The only bad thing that ever happened was some punk going into a nearby theatre tossed a piece of bubble gum in the passenger's seat while we were in the pool hall. A few drunk females have waited for us to come outside, leaning on the car provocatively. Cobras are such a gas

Oh, and one more thing
The reason someone(s) would steal your ride is to part it out! Your hot rod sb/BB/tranny/differential, etc... could be put in any hot rod or truck with no-one the wiser. So it's better to be safe than sorry, and put some sort of lock/cut-off on her. Even if it's insured you will be cobra-less for some time, a fate perhaps worse than most!

I've bought two car covers on eBay. a lightweight dust cover and a waterproof cover. They were brand new, made for the Cobra and I got each one for under $60.

In your opinion, would you new car cover be suitable for trailering? With strapdowns and bungees, of course.
I have anytime access to a flat-bed trailer with ramps but there is no way I can handle the expense of an enclosed trailer.

I too have a flat bed trailer and have thought about building a tent over the car. Weld on some receivers for metal hoops and sew up some canvas to cover ... think covered wagon and you'd have the right idea.

Gentlemen,
I think that Mikes suggestion of "Cover it, Trunk and Dash battery cut-offs and an integrated alarm with door and tremor sensors........" as well as Ricks' rattlesnake (or King Cobra) in the driver's seat, and a "Club Sandwich"  on the passenger's seat, as well as a Lo Jack in the trunk, are all good things to do.
This from one who had his stolen out of a locked garage by a professional who might have either parted her out or sold her whole to someone in the middle east oil cartel of nations ....except for an unexpected event.
Honestly, on the road, it was a car cover with the battery cutoff switch key removed and the coil wire removed....parked out front of my hotel room. Only the rain and wind caused problems.

Right about the car cover destroying the paint (if towed with the cover on). It will also destroy the finish on the car if left on outside in the wind for weeks (dust gets under it and the wind beats scratches into the paint). Happens even with the "best" car covers (lined). Might not see it at first on some paints but shows up quickly on darker colors.

Ok Guys I run 1000 miles to R&G every year with an open trailer in the rain. Heres how you do it, Get 3 moving blanet from Home depot and wash them couple of times to soften them. One side is softer than the other, soft side down Split the 2 covers on the nose to cover the fender and one acroos the back for the rear. I have a piece of 1" foam to protect the windshield. Put your cover on over this, Run long bungee under the car, Get a canvas tarp am cover the whole car. I used about 15 to hold down on the car and trailer, rap the front tight you will have no problems. Ask anyone who has been to R&G they see me come and go with an open trailer WATCH OUT FOR THE CLIPS on the bungees, if they look like they will rub the car, rap them with shop towels. 5 years, 10k miles, 3 deer kills and no damage to the car. Trailer is different. Hit 6 times, deer bodys 3 dumb a$$ 3. Randy Klein Randy put an eye bolt ring in the floor of the garage or jack the car up and remove the wheels. You must have advertised the car to a thief. Remove anything that can cut a 20 ton choker cable from under the car and through the frame. Cable the 4 tires together if you are leaving it on the ground. Lo-jac for 400.00$ is still the best thing. I slept at an Holiday inn 4 weeks ago. My 2 cents. I cable my car at Gateway for the R&G also. The people are great but why take a chance. Rick Lake. ps You could have blocker the garage door with another vehicle also and locked it.

Never use a standard car cover on a trailer!
Dittos to the prior warning.. it's actually better to leave it uncovered than to damage your paint that way! Even better to weld an aluminum superstructure for the overhead and get professional tarps.. or better yet get a "warrior" trailer so your snake is protected.. you can sleep in it too!

Whew Rick! 
Don't have to worry about paint damage from a car cover with bare arruminum. Covered trailer to take care of the long hauls. Life is good for my Cobra.
To me, the battery cutoff is a given. Added advantage of electric fuel pumps is having them on a switch...unmarked.
If they get past all of that...they better have brought a coil wire with them.

I get asked this question countless times a year. I always respond with-- NEVER tow your car with a cover on it...never.
Then along comes Rick  ...sounds good to me fella. No doubt that would work.

The only times I have left the car overnight at shows, I just put a standard car cover over it to help keep it clean, but I don't worry about the safety of the car. The cover certainly won't make it any safer.
You definitely do not want to open trailer the car with a cover on it. As has been said, it'll make a mess of the paint.
Pete, if you figure out a way to make a sturdy wagon top over the trailer, let me know. I also have access this year to borrow an open trailer. I know the car can get wet, done it before, but if I can keep it dry, all the better.
