Cobra tags

California is a tough place to get original..so many tags already in use. I had an Arntz car that I sold, but keep the plates WONC BIT. Hope to use on the NAF car I just bought.

Just a suggestion, prowl97. If you start a new thread with this question, you will get more responses than if it is buried here in this thread about license plates.

I scored my licence plate here in Western Australia. I just had to wait for the number sequence to come up. It cost me $19.

Mine is "FANGS"

A double entendre of course... the Cobra refrence is obvious...but it does suck money out of my wallet like a vampire sucks blood!!

Hey Vanoochka,

Nice idea...just wondering what the CHP might say. ?? I thought of buying a vintage plate and then purchasing a personal plate from the DMV with the matching numbers and letters but learned you can't get the same sequence of numbers and letters. I like your idea though.

I am using twice shy but I only get 6 letters
should I use twc shy or 2wc shy any ideas?

jdog 10-17-2007 07:45 PM

No longer available!

I've seen the fake ones and they'er really not that close. Especially, if your used to looking at license plates a lot.
I don't think you'll fool to many cops with them.

I year or so ago I tried to 're-produce' some actual Cali black & yellow plates.;)
For display purposes only, of course. We still have a few black blanks from 'back in the day' and the yellow ink can be matched.

But I found out, much to my dismay, that we no longer have the dies that were used to press them with.

The dies were sold for scrap metal a few years ago! They were there on the die rack when I left the factory 4 years ago, and now they'er gone. Cali no long has a means to re-produce them.

I could make them look close, but not exact. The cost to re-build the dies would be about $15,000.:(
