The motor in the car now is probably just used for mock up. The pics of the new motor are entirely different.
|
The Dyno's that Kroyer has are top notch. If you ever get a chance to go see Kroyers shop please do. They build about 40 custom engines each month. The 40-K engine they built for Dwaynes car is a cheap one. They have at least 5 dyno rooms for engines and one chassis dyno. Each room has many diffrent sets of headers and they have a large selection of carburation. Kroyer has also build a Cobra 427 with fuel injection, very trick.

40K for an engine? I'm bummed spending 4K for parts for mine. :D
|
Scooter, what's your point? And, why is it relevant on this thread?
|
.
|
40K for the engine???? Again..........does something seem odd here? Did they recieve a call from Hunt stating that there was a guy coming over with an open check book, or what?
I sure hope this car is everything (and more) that Dwayne is hoping it would be. He sure paid for it. |
A $40K motor is perfectly normal? Right, wanna buy a bridge?
It's relevant because the total cost of this project has been questioned by many. I believe the cost to date is $140K and MORE money is still required to complete?
SO, if $40K is for the motor then a $100K for the car. I haven't heard numbers like $40K for a motor used very often for somebody building their car here on CC. $25 to 30K is ABOVE average. So we have a $100K "roller"? The numbers don't add up. I don't think Dwaynes cares about the cost at this point and I support him in that. For those who are not shocked by these numbers, your not only in the minority, you have lost touch with the reality of the typical CC member. |
Ernie and Terry
Please think about it...you have missed the point a bit. It doesn't matter how much it cost. A deal was made for a certain amount of money for a thing to be completed in a certain amount of time. Let it go...or start a new thread. |
.......So, THIS thread is only to cover Dwayne getting screwed by Finish Line and the length of TIME (not the amount of MONEY) it has taken them to build his car?
So we need to start ANOTHER thread about how he's getting the shaft on PRICE as well??? C'mon.......getting screwed is getting screwed. It all goes hand-n-hand. |
Terry, I have not read one complaint from Hogdealer, on behalf of Dwayne, regarding the price.
Folks here could (and would) argue all day long about what they thought the price should be, and that would take the discussion far afield. Everyone has a different concept about these cars. It is evident from Hogdealer's posts that Dwayne ordered a very particular car to his own personal specs...so who are we to say? The deal was cut. I think folks have been pretty consistent about talking about Dwayne getting his car completed in the time agreed to, and not about its value. Again, lets leave it at that. Thank you. |
Hogdealer,
I surely do hope Dwaynes gets his car as soon as possible regardless of the cost. HE can afford that, the average CC member cannot. I don't believe it is FAIR to leave the larger community of CC members with the impression that $40K for a motor or $100K for a roller is in anyway "normal" or "average". I am glad Dwayne has the funds to finance his dream in such a spectacular way. LOTS of members have less than $40K invested in their entire car. |
You know Ernie, I think you can trust the folks here to figure what something's worth to each of them.
|
Kroyer is a pretty hi tech place. When you get $25k or so in an engine, then $10k in the induction, plus tuning it all and dyno time, you could hit $40k easily. Is it overkill? Sure, but then so is a Cobra!
|
Guys.........
Like Jamo said, this thread was created on Dwayne's behalf. The object here is to get his car completed asap, so that he may spend some quality time with his new car. What ever Dwayne decided to spend on his car is his business. Stay focused and get back on topic to getting Dwayne's car finished! As for the Daytona info, the info was correct though maybe misleading. The car did belong to Lynn Parks. The coupe is co-owned, and did not want to name the owners. Roy campaigns the car at certain events. I always wondered why Lynn parted with the car, as they have labled the car by some as the 7th Coupe. CSX2469 was destroyed by fire in 1989. Lynn purchased the chassis, and converted it to Daytona specs. This is one very nice coupe which I would have kept! - Bill - |
I get the impression Dwayne was a "working man", a blue collar kind of guy. Perhaps like many of the members here.
Clay asked why a $40K motor was relevant, Pat confirmed the question with his not so sly " . " comment. I made a simple observation concerning the cost, one of SURPRISE. Pat has made it clear that anybody that buys an FFR is so poor they can barely rub two nickels together. I guess anybody that express' surprise at a $40K motor is also a phucking looser. ...dam rich mans thread, the average guy aint welcome around here. See ya. |
Come on Scooter....stick around! Your input is always welcome. Just too much testosterone in the air lately on this thread. The cost issue on Dwayne's car is not the topic at hand. Just trying to steer everyone back oncourse.
PS...Car is Honolulu bound in a couple months. We'll have to hook up soon. - Bill - |
Had to take a few minutes to check on Dwayne and Danny. Seems like everything is going as well as can be expected. Really nice shots of the car!
May I make a suggestion at this point? OK, going to anyway. I probably have half a dozen model Cobras in my office, but none of them are 'Sliver and Black'. Does anyone have one done in Danny's colors OR can make him one ex-post haste? (Did I do that right?) Reading Danny's post on the Viper site, it appears that he is receiving a "few" get well cards that he is enjoying very much. I'd like to see him get a like kind model to put on his entertainment center too! If I had a spare minute right now you know I would do it, but for me, time is one thing I am a little short of right now. DV..."WE" are truly family! ! |
Any news on how Dwayne is doing at the Mayo Clinic? After all, his health/well being is really what is most important. All the rest is just "stuff".
Wayne |
I was going to send Dwayne a die cast car with my card, figured it would cheer him up. I went to about 6 toy stores and couldn't find one :(.
Getting back to the engine thing, I am a little confused on something. At one point in the story, the engine shop said the motor was fully paid for and just needed to be dynoed, and then more recently now the story is that it's not paid for. What's up with that? |
Wrong place to engage, Slick, or Scooter, or whatever.....
