John,
I have to agree with you. I am sure that some of that rats nest over there has been either reading or aware of this post and the one on the Viper Club. Wonder why none of them will even put a post out to defend them selves or tell anyone what they are doing to get the car finished. It can't take that long. I just talked to a friend of mine who is having a 1969 Mach 1 that was a total disaster restored for his son and he said two weeks ago, he went to see it and all there was was the floor pans and running gear. Whole body was rusted so bad they cut it away. He is supposed to get the car next week and said it looks great. They are just finishing the rubbing out of the paint now and all that in two weeks. And these people have taken what--22 months to put together a car that had no bad stuff to start with. Toal time on the Mach 1 from the day they trailered it into the shop has been 4 1/2 months. Ron  |

You took the words right out of my mouth. I too was wondering what progress (if any) had been made on the car. I also found it interesting that the Kirkhams took it upon themselves to send a gift pack including T-shirts, hats, etc to Dwayne while FinishLine didn't appear to care less. Can someone in the area drop in and take a look at the car to see if work is progressing and give us an update? Wayne |
Wayne,
Kirkham was not the only one to send hats, shirts, and sweatshirts to Dwayne :D :D :D .......... |
Excellent suggestion Wayne.
What is the CURRENT status of the car? Sould we mount a rather large campain to get an answer? Wait............ Finishline does not answer. |
***UPDATE***
Dwayne got over the flu and they resumed his Chemo treatments. One 4 hour drip once a week. The gave him steriods to combat the sick feelings that go with the chemo. Ron61 Let me correct the time frame, as of today it has been 26 months (not 22). In any event it is a long time. |
Gift Pack From Finish line???

Hogdealer,
Sorry about getting the time frame wrong. I thought that way back in the thread I had read 22 months and instead of going back to check I just put it in. But I did preface it with --What, so I tried to cover myself. Anyamount of time over 10 months byan originazation like that is ridiculous unless they are producing hundreds of cars and then they could have a backup. Anyway Dwayne is still in my prayers and I am happy to hear he is over the flu. All the best and he has a great friend in you trying so hard to get this done. :) Ron :o |
Bill
Sorry, didn't mean to leave anyone out  , rather I was trying to point out that FinishLine didn't seem to care. DaltonDavid Yep, that's what I thought also, they were simply too busy. Hogdealer Thanks for the update on Dwayne. Lets pray that he is strong enough to continue to handle the chemo. Is there anyone out there that is in a position to check on the car? Wayne |
I sent an e-mail to Curt C. to see if he could go look at the car again when he gets back from the holidays. I believe he was leaving town after we last spoke.
If there is anyone else in the Las Vegas area, or if anyone is going to Vegas for News Year, please drop in to Finish Line and update everyone. Thanks - Happy New Year |
Here's wishing Dwayne a successful fight and a remission of this horrid disease for the New Year.
Somehow the Cobra is much less important right now. It's just a damn shame from a business sense. God help Dwayne recover. |
Hey Guys.
I will be happy to get back out there. Currently, I am still out of town of vacation, but I will be able to go by and photograph progress next Thursday or Friday. Get better Dwayne! |
....just dont want to lose this thread....bringing it back up..hope dwayne is well........

Well, Let's see if anything has been done in 2005!
It's Monday morning, January 3, 2005 at 6:03am CST. Hopefully, some or oue ever-vigilant watchdogs from this family will soon be dropping in for a surprise update on the progress in the final stages of finishing Dwaynes Cobra!
I would like to see some REALLY good news come in here, for the sake of ALL parties involved. Does anyone have anything they can contribute?? John Russell |
I see hogdealer has pictures on the site from what looks like 12-21-04.
There is a lot of work that has to be done before it will be ready. The line in Vegas is; no on 1-15-05. |
No on 1-15? Let me guess, Finish Line ran out of money?
|
No offense guys, but are you maybe hoping for a self fulfilling prophecy? Some might think it sounds like it.:)
|
New Mexico: I think the guys are just playing the "odds". If you go by the history of the past 26 months on this car build, the odds don't look too good.
I'm hoping with all the behind the scenes "stuff" going on that the odds are being transferred over to Dwayne's favor. If I were a betting man I would give it a 50-50 chance of completion. Maybe even 60-40 in Dwayne's favor. Just hoping for the best at this point. |

Maybe we can get some hard news tomorrow
Let's all hope we can get some good, up to date information tomorrow! Everyone involved in this needs a quick, timely end to this sad, sad, saga of treachery and deceit.

ok, im getting a bit tired of the shelby bashing going on, so here's some hard facts. i've spoken with carroll twice in the past 3 weeks on this issue. he had given a mandate to his guys to get the car and finish it themselves, but was told Dwayne didnt want that since the car was so far along it would slow things down. carroll has said " i dont give a s..t what it costs or takes, get this guys car done". the problem is that finish line may go belly up, but either way shelby will catch the ball. carroll will be calling dwayne directly shortly. i did speak with dwayne today also. if he feels like traveling at some point, then i will put him in a daytona coupe, GT350R, full comp 427, 427 SC, 289 team car, FIA 289 and a GT40 to cruise around northern california in. if God is willing.......... the right people are doing the right things now.
