Two days before Christmas and my best buddy is freezing & near death 2000 miles from here for the holidays. I just thought I would post what I was thinking.

I feel CS should straighten out the ALL the SIA problems, and the ones the Dealers are having with SIA.

The way things are going the only way Dwayne is going to get to speak with Carroll is while both of them are walking up to the pearly gates.

I think only one of them is getting in, Guess which one!!

Dano, in normal times I would agree with you but I really think it's time to stop giving CS a pass just because he's CS. We all smiled at his antics like painting the first cobra different colours to fool the press and the public (and potential depositors / stakeholders / investors, etc) into believing production was what it was not and forgave him his foot in mouth statements about "that old car" and the replica industry. And now we must supress our disappointment about his callous apathy (no one can convince me that he was not made aware of this situation long before now ) towards a dying man's last wish that directly involves him, his company, his car and his legendary status all in the fear of him changing his mind about condescending to help at the 11th hour?
Dwayne's situation has prompted complete strangers to do what they can to to provide some measure of cheer and comfort and now we must shut up in fear of offending those who are responsible for (and still profiting from) this mess in the first place??
Here Shelby had the perfect oportunity to be the real hero many of us have always wanted him to be but so far he and his representatives/dealers are increasingly, painfully revealing themselves as arrogant, bitter, money grubbing opportunists trading on the accidental legacy of a charismatic little car that its own creator didn't recognize until others began to do it justice.
This is not off topic. Dwayne's situation has touched all of us and the majority recognize that the main thing is to just get him his car ASAP. There appears to be a hint that there are things going on behind the scenes that most are not privy to. Fine. Maybe if we knew about these things we would be less prone to criticize The Great One but please forgive me for having my doubts.
All the best to everyone with special wishes for Dwayne and DV and all of your families through the season and into the new year.

edit: I was late to this thread. Sorry the Kirkham's offer didn't work out. I hope Dwayne gets his car this time and my prayers are with him and his family.

You better jump on this offer.
Rest assured, the Kirkhams know how it goes together, and from what I've heard they know how a business should be run.

I just got a phone call from David Kirkham from Kirkham Motorsports in Provo, UT. David and his brother Thomas have volunteered to send his tuck and trailer to Las Vegas, pick up Dwaynes car, engine and pieces to pay for any parts that are not on the car and have it done by christmas. WOW!! I told him we would be willing to pay for any parts that he needed to buy. He said "We will not take one dime, we want to do this" "Dwayne needs his car".

At the SAAC events, any FORD powered car that can pass tech inspection can run the open track. (The only exception that I'm aware of is the series 1).

I do not think very many Viper guys would come to the event in February. You see there is a Viper Days event at Button Willow in Calf. that same week end. I just thought that I would like to get some track time while I was there with Dwayne (Hopefully).

Danny.........

I know the emotions are flowing big time for all that has taken place. As for Carroll, I was told that he does not read emails or forums. Don't believe he is computer literate. I can only assume that he's possibly.....possibly been advised of Dwayne's situation. If he was advised, I'm sure he discussed the situation with Roy. Will he contact Dwayne....not likely! He's not running the show, more like a part time advisor/consultant.

Not trying to justify anything here, just providing some info that you may not be aware of.

Glad to hear that Dwayne is recieving all his cards from the club members. We are all following this through with you and Dwayne.
Merry Christmas Danny!

And the Kirkhams also know how to treat their customers. As a matter of fact they know how to treat people, customer, or other wise.

Best wishes to Dwayne.

Merry Christmas to all.

is anyone able to email to me a contact phone number for dwayne please?

Ron61 12-24-2004 12:43 PM

I know that I am not connected in any way with this mess, but after reading this thread for days, it seems that someone in the Shelby, Finishline, and engine builders company would take it upon themselves to get the car finished and to Dwayne immediately. Even if you had to pay some out of your own pockets, just getting him his car would more than make up any monatery losses with the good will and publicity you would generate. Does all the lying, finger pointing, and worry about losing a dollar while you wait for Dwayne to pass on not bother any of you in the least? I have been a Shelby nut all of my life, but this is one stain that is not going to be easily removed, even though he himself may not be personally responsible. As Truman said, "The Buck Stops Here," and Shelby will suffer the brunt of the damage to reputations. Dwayne, best of luck and I hope that someone with a conscious, if there is anyone in that mess that has one, will take some steps to remedy this situation and get your car to you.

Hogdealer,
Any update on Dwayne's flu condition and general situation?
Thanks,

HOGDEALER 12-27-2004 10:50 AM

*** UPDATE ****

I spoke to Dwayne on Christmas Day. He was in good spirits but highly medicated. Many People have sent him gifts and cards. He is very thankful for the show of support. The Kirkhams sent him a huge box of T-Shirts, Sweaters, Hats, Stickers, and a poster of a Cobra signed by all the people at Kirkham Motorsports. Dwaynes Son sent him a little pre-decorated tree with lights and everything. I think he had as good of a Christmas as one could expect under the circumstances. Dwayne told me to tell everyone thanks for all that you have done.

HOGDEALER 12-28-2004 12:44 PM

*** AUTOWEEK UPDATE ***

A senior editor interviewed Dwayne (via phone) at the Mayo Clinic about his car and Shelby. They are waiting to see if the car is finished by the Jan. 15th date.

...just bumping this to the top.....

LURK 12-28-2004 03:21 PM

I think Autoweek should go for the story. If they do, it'll be a lot of Club Cobra eyballs all over it. The suits should like that, if nothing else, eh?

Although with all the eyballs will come attitude- so, I hope for their sake they get it at least mostly right :3DSMILE:

At this point, I just Hope Dwayne's Health improves enough to be able to take a ride. Not giving a Pass to anyone who delayed the Car's production, but The really "Bad guy" in this whole story is the Dreaded disease, "CANCER"! It Took My Father, Took my Neighbors Wife, Took My 27 Year old employees Tongue, and I could go on and on as I am sure most of you can. Take your anger and write a check to the American Cancer Society.

DAVID GAGNARD 12-28-2004 07:14 PM

Dalton;

No anger here, just tired of CS & company's antics and being able to get away with just about anything they want to.........

BTW; CANCER took three of my four grandparents,my dad,a couple of cousins, and a number of very close personal friends........taking into consideration that cancer "runs" in my family on both sides and the area I live in (Louisiana) and my cultural lifestyle and age,I stand a better chance than most of having some form of the dreaded disease within the next 10 years, not a real good thought......

I still do and have been doing charity work for cancer research since 1973,including a charity "hospital bed push" were we pushed a replica hospital bed from my home town to the state capital to raise money and awareness for cancer,if I remember right it took us two full days and was about 125 miles..........don't remember the amount of money raised, but it was quite a bit, about double what we had hoped for.......

I, too, as many on this club and other clubs have hoped and prayed for Dwayne's recovery and well being............

David

HogDealer, do we have any updates??

Hogdealer,
Have you heard from anyone out in Las Vegas about the "progress" on the Cobra recently?? I would just love to hear that something, anything has been done on Dwayne's car, but I just have bad feelings about their current set of promises.
I am concerned about Dwayne being strong enough to make it another 17 days and I just have a forboding twinge we are in for another stall from these sniveling rats.
I do hope I am wrong, but it would be nice if we saw some current pictures of "someone/anyone" actually working on his car, or at least some signs of life.
John Russell
