That was the proto-type.
They are actually a lot better now in both the detail and the built strength. They weigh about 18 lbs are super strong. |

Very nice! How are they mounted?
|
Mounting
Tools required
1 inch steel square tube stock 3/4 inch steel round tube stock 5/8 inch grade 8 bolts/nuts 1/4 inch steel slat stockFender washers Welding ability 3 hrs You first mock up the seat into position with 2x4 wood blocks then determine either floor mount or seat track mount. The rest will be detailed in diagrams and pictures but, experience in welding is a must. It sounds harder than it is but it is the only way to get the seat at an optimum position. There is no generic mounting. The seat is supposed to fit both you and the car like a custom tailored suit. |
I am guessing you get get one for both sides? I am all about symmetry ;).....Also, just wondering the differences in this one vs. the one I have seen from Cobra Restorers?
The seat looks great though!! |
Seat
This seat is hand made to your own measurements out of aluminum. It is far safer than the fiberglass reproduction. We also use dense padding on the shell and foam backed padding to make it really comfortable.
The repro seat only comes in 2 sizes. Big and bigger. If you search CC or Ron finds a link to the previous thread from last year that shows all the detail pics. |
As for the symetry....
I understand but, the original comp cars used one comp seat and a standard passenger seat. I do and have sold 2's to guys that wanted the symetry |
And...........
the cover fits like a glove. The repro piece fits like a baggie |

Thanks |
dont worry about my previous post;I saw the pictures on the link,
very nice.I will defenitly order one next month. |
If you really want the seat to be comfortable..... get some cushions from Air Craft Spruce ....the ones that pilot's use for long flights.....
And install it in the seat.... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/DSC05938.JPG |
This was the only issue we had with the seat.....
No hole was cut into the cover of the seat for the seat belts.... so we just cut one for now... Morris http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/DSC05953.JPG |
Morris: make sure you have the slit sewn up and reinforced at the ends, else the slit will get way bigger over time.

got pics of the mounting frame?
Mine's in the mail, but haven't seen any pictures of the frame that is needed to mount it. Anyone got a photo handy so I can get a better idea of what I've got to build for mounting?
Thanks! Scott |
