Mine really smelled bad when I first built it as it was too rich. After re-jetting the carb the smell wasn't nearly as bad. I always open both doors before starting it or else I back it out of the garage as soon as it fires up.
My wife loves the Cobra but she will make a comment about the smell getting in the house, from time to time.
