Need help with color choice
hello everybody,
placing my order for my first cobra. so far everything decided on. engine will be Roush 427IR, 8 stack injected. my main concern is the color choice. thinking of the following options: - royal blue with white racing stripes, pinstripes and drivers side white rookie stripes. - malachite green with silver racing stripes, pinstripes and drivers side rookie stripes. - malchite green with white racing stripes, pinstripes and drivers side white rookie stripes. all input welcome, especially pics.... thanks eveyone |
Malachite green without any stripes :D
|
Mmmm all Ferraris' are red and all Cobras are blue.
What was your first choice when you first thought of buying a Cobra.. I originally wanted a blue Cobra and I changed to British Racing green, then to black with red stripes and then back to the blue... Have fun deciding.. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...obra_2_027.JPG |
Do some out-of-the-box thinking and make it blue! But no pinstripes.

Color choice
I wish you luck, as this is a big issue for me,
I dont want stripes so the car will attract less attention from the Police, but some say if you have got it flaunt it! My first choice was silver, but they look plain, and now I think BRG. I would be interested to see this malachite green even though green isnt my favourite colour, I reckon dark colours make the car look smaller and cool. Having said that Cobra and Ford = Blue!!!!!!!! |
Somewhere I saw a photo of a Cobra that was painted Pearl Metallic Grey with darker pearl grey stripes. It sounds kind of BLAH typing it and reading it back, but the car looked spectacular. There were several angles of sun on the car and it irridesed (Is that a word?...kind of like the skin of a Mako shark)
But then there is always something to be said for Guardsman Blue with Avalanche white stripes. Oh, mine is black. |
You could be unique and paint it camoflage, but then no one would see you. Whats the fun of that??:3DSMILE:

Mmm "Guardsman Blue and Avalanche white stripes. Sounds pretty good to me. Glad I picked it...:3DSMILE: %/ http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._3_0441_1_.jpg %/ |
Go to the House of Kolor web site and purchase their paint chip and products book ($50). Then you can be like me, dragging the book out every evening, sipping rum, and ogling all the colors and combinations. I currently have $50 invested in the book and three times that in rum. Still no closer to picking the color but TruBlue Pearl is ahead in the stretch. Now, where's that rum?

BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, and BLACK
The four best colors for a Cobra. Maybe blue (Gumball) |
You can see IVY GREEN in my pictures. SPF will do custom colors.
I believe Ivy Green was an original green for Cobras. JB :) |
I am changing mine from the Green to the SPF red. Not beacuse I really like it better but more for resale if I have to sell it. I saw the move the hollywood Knights last night, they had one that was a light blue with no stripe and it looked really good. I like the british racing/malachite green with white stripes though if you have definately narrowed it down to those colors listed.
|
Mpanten. If you're talking the "best color for resale" I think you would have to go with a dark blue and white stripes - on a 427 body style.
|
You're spending a lot of money...get the color you REALLY want! You only live once. The reality is the that the car is going to depreciate a certain amount and there will always be someone who wants to buy a green car.
My personal goal is to fill my garage and driveway with silver cars...that's just me though  . Doug |

No doubt, It just seems that 95% of the cobras I see are Blue or Silver. Both very nice but I wanted something a little different. I also think your rims, pipes and roll bar greatly affect what colors look best. Black looks best IMHO with chrome pipes and roll bars. The lighter colors look best with black pipes etc. That being said they all look good :) |
User "traindriver" has pictures of his blue SPF, but right next to it in one of the pictures is a cobra that has green with gray stripes.
|
My vote would be for malachite green with silver stripes (no rookie stripes). That said mine is Ford Vista Blue with no stripes (to me stripes have only looked "right" on the 427 body).
Unless you are already dead set on a particular color, I would suggest that you look at as many cars as you can in different lighting conditions before you pick your color. Check 'em out at your local dealers. Besides it's fun to see the look on the saleman's face when you tell him (or her) that you're only there to check out the colors for your new Cobra (not a Mustang!)! |
The 427 Cobra looks killer in dark blue with white stripes. Also, solid navy blue. Which shade of blue ... that is another exercise
|
I saw one of the FIA cars at ERA recently done in BRG...what a sight! I don't know who's car it was or what chassis #, but it was beautiful.
|
I wanted Red and my better half wanted Blue so..........
We got Indigo Blue (2000 Chev truck color) with Polar White stripes....Great choice. Just glows in the sun! Maybe Wayne (Secret Squirrel) can chime in here. His colors were great but I don't know what you call them...kinda champagne..really nice.. Good Luck |
