Guys, I really do appreciate all the support and the offering of parts. What a great bunch of buddies.

I think I've made up my mind this time though. It's been a fun ride, but I'm gonna see if I can find this puppy a new owner.

I can I still be a CC member?

Brent,

Sorry to see you let the car go, but there were many times when I was building mine that I would have happily pushed it over one of the canyon sides if I had it close enough. All the small work seems to have no end and you go long periods without seeing any big change. Once I got past that and started seeing big changes it got easier. Good luck and I hope that you can recover most of what you have into it.

Ron

Blykins, The guy that painted mine, is on the west side of Huntington just up the road from where you have your car in Ashland. He did it in 2 - 3 weeks and it was a great deal. I would put this paint job up against anything I've seen where guys have shelled out $5K(+) for a paint job. He has a web site that shows my car in different phases: www.sgcustompaintautobody.com
Hope this helps!

I would say, IMHO, that you will get the most money for a Cobra that has most of its' work done to it.

But I understand that you gotta do what you gotta do.

When you DO sell, will you still be looking for a Cobra then?

The first one I started in 1990 and finished in 1996. Sold it in 1999. Bought a Vette. Missed Cobra, sold Vette, started another Cobra in 2001. Really hadnt worked on it much until recently. A lot of the fun/challenge/frustration comes from putting it together, continually working things out in your mind, doing it how you think it should be done. Sell it now, and you will always be thinking 'what if'. You have a running and mobile vehicle, the rest is relatively easy. Moral of the story, 'once bitten...'

Blykins:
Suggest, trailering it up to London for the gathering on the weekend of the 23rd. Maybe you might get some interest because alot of people go there to see all the different makes and combos to help decide what they want to get into. Just a thought in this soft market lately.
Good Luck in your decision.
Jim

Damn Brent- It seems you pretty much have your mind made up, but I hate to see you sell it. I have been following your build for awhile now, and like mentioned above, I like your creativity.

As for the light at the end of the tunnel, I consider myself being able to see a little light already, and all I have is the completed chassis, and the body (which will be delivered to the LCS- so its not even in my posession yet. I still have a long way to go, but the two major investmemts are out of the way. I have wanted one for years, and always thought that as long as I was making progress, I woulodnt care if it took 10 years to build. Im doing alot better than I thought I would. If I was as close as you are to completing my car, theres nothing that could possibly seperate me from it. As I look back over my last 37 years, I have let alot of things go, and could kick myself now for it. I just dont want to be kicking myself 10 years from now for getting rid of the Cobra.

Whatever you do, I wish ya luck, and hope you will still be at the LCS. One last thing- you could always keep an eye out for parts for sale here. I bought my ceramic coated sidepipes from Terry Stapley for $300. Over the long haul, savings like these will make a big difference.

Take care,
Greg
