Try driving that track on GranTurismo3 and see if you can match that speed.I know that track well from playing that game from beginning to end twice!Another great track is Nurburgring! Thats a really hard track to get right, its super long and ton's of corners.Looks real to me!!!

The white lines in the brake zone are much longer than the straight and create an optical illusion. When he brakes, it looks like the lines go from warp speed to zero - when in reality, he's simply hitting a section with much longer lines. There are other POV videos of Le Mans on YouTube that look exactly the same.

Who ever said that racing is 99% ocular wasn't kidding. I recently bought a 57 inch TV. Watching Le Mans on it totally justified the entire purchase (with sound system).

Whats throwing me off is the engine sounds while he supposed to be braking just before he overtakes the porsche. Maybe the sound track isnt in jibe with film? Also does anyone know what the noise is that you hear at the 23 second mark? At the begining you can hear the car that passes him as he enters the track. It seems to be in sinc at that point.

All I know is, this car is geared so low for top end, listen how long it takes the driver (Derek Bell) to get back into the torque range. When he accelerates out of the tight radius corners, it sounds like he's in 4th.

I have about 3 hours of in-car video from my race car this last race season, at home on my 32" tv, it's o-k, played it on my brother-in-law's 50 incher and you'd swear you where in the passenger seat with me..........they were all impressed with the video and it's on a little 200 dollar Sony video recorder, also, sound is great..........

50 incher at minimum will be my next purchase................

It's been about 20 minutes since I read this and I'm still wiping tears from my eyes and giggling like a school girl !! The ahole around the neck picture in my head from hitting your breaks just kills me !

Line slinger, randy
Going 250 miles an hour to roughly 40 mph isnt something youd be doing with your small block cobra and a set of wilwoods. These are serious cars. 1760 lbs of carbon fiber and 650 hp (Probably more like 800hp) Just one of their calipers holds better than all your wilwoods put together.
The 956 Porsche was the top car of the early 80s. Won81, placing 1-2 and 3 in 82 and they led the entire race from start to finish. Yup, all 24 hours. After watching this video and listening to others coment on it Im convinced that its real. There was one team not long ago that measured the heavy braking Gforce at 6.5. Thats 6 1/2 times your body weight against that safety harness.

Here are a few numbers for those who are interested in such things. Assuming a car going 240 MPH decellerates to 40 MPH at 4 G's, it will take about 2.27 seconds and cover a distance of only 334 feet! I can't imagine approaching a corner at 240 and waiting until 350 feet out to hit the brakes. Yikes! ,,, Oh, if I try to start braking at 350' and am late by more than 0.045 seconds, I'll be going too fast to make the corner.

... and it is the ability to judge the braking point consistently to that 0.045 seconds that creates a champion driver!

If you look at the trees on the right you can see that he starts to brake and downshift 5+ seconds before the turn. The high RPMS that I was wondering about appears to be him keeping the car at high rpm while downshifting. Unless someone has some scientific way of determining its a fake, Im of the opinion its real. 240 to 40 in 5 or 6 seconds. They said these cars braked at 6 Gs. Whadda car.

I think it's all real but like I said earlier, it's just that the audio doesn't match video. Other than that, it's fine.

Hey did any one you notice the cat on the side of the road?

Me neither... LOL

All I know is if it is a fake it is a good one. It looks real to me and INTENSE to say the least.
