Cobra Purchase
I found a great used Cobra with a 1960's VIN#; priced right. Upon inspection I found that the fiberglass body was defective as a reult of poor manufacturing quality. No wonder it was priced right.
Can anyone recommend a recognized high quality, "turnkey" replica manufacturer in the USA?
Are there engines having 1960's VIN #'s available?
Thanks,
Cyclops

I believe pollution and crash standards have eliminated turn-key cars. Even the turn-key minus cars are required to be assembled by another entity, although they seem to have clever ways of getting around that. Having said that, you can contact most dealers/manufacturers about securing one set up as you desire. Time and money are the 2 things, only a few can deliver fairly quickly, if you have the time there are several ways to go.

There are some FE Engines with 1960s numbers around but you will have to pay a premium for one that is any good. Also a lot will depend on just which engine you want. If you want a BB then you should be able to find a 390 that isn't to bad and build it to whatever you want. If you want a 427SO then that will be harder to find and a lot more expensive. Also the 289s are getting harder to find as more people have gobbled them up. But I believe there are a couple of companies that are making 1960s blocks both in iron and steel. Others can tell you much more abut this than I can.

I have a mid 60's 289 I'll let go for $100.00. Complete engine, intake to pan. It comes with a complete mid to late 80's 302 HO. Someone can come and get them both. If you want one you take both. I can use the room.
