The 1st picture is the display in front of Goodwood House. It was a tribute to Toyota. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0101.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0105.jpg Next up is two shots of Dan Gurneys 1962 Thompson-Buick Special. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0123.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0125.jpg |

How d,ya like this cool shot of the 1962 Redhead Streamliner on Lord March`s cricket pitch. In fact the grass was covered in salt to recreate a little bit of Bonneville.

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0146.jpg Next up is another shot of the Toyota display. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0107.jpg Next is a Kurtis-Offenhauser engine shot and below that is a Miller. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0126.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0129.jpg |
I had a great time there. I was flabbergasted at the amount of effort that went into the extravaganza, and the amount of detail such as the push trucks and the salt as you show above. Even though it was raining, I was never bored and never came close to seeing all of the available sights.
It was a fantastic experience. Thanks for the pictures. |
Here`s me and Marc Gene, he is currently the Ferrari F1 test driver and also raced for Peugeot at Le Mans recently.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0160.jpg Here is Emerson Fittipaldi, Allan McNish and Penske ALMS driver Timo Bernhard. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../100_01761.jpg 32 Ford http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0152.jpg http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0151.jpg |
Oh yes, that was Emerson Fittipaldi above...
and that 32 Ford was outstanding wasn't it ! |
Last shots are LSR cars. The first one im afraid i can,t remember or work out what it is in the program ,sorry.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../100_01661.jpg Next is the M.G. EX181 driven by Phil Hill and Stirling Moss in 1959. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0162.jpg The Blue Flame http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../100_01631.jpg Last one, this is a great shot taken by my wife with Al Teagues "Class of 76" in the foreground. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/100_0161.jpg Thats all folks. Me thinks Dynoroom (Mike LeFrenchguy) might know a little sumthin about that last one.
Just watched a program about MG's pre-war speed record history...didn't realize how extensive it was, or that Auto Union and M-Benz copied so much from their later designs. |
Sounds like a good program, i would really like to see footage of Ken Miles in the MG EX179 at Bonneville in the 50`s. Are there any videos with that stuff on do you know?
|
They did show a quick clip of Miles at the Salt.
It wasn't our History or Discovery channels (the normal venues)...just something I caught channel surfing. I'll track it down. I'm at a hotel a few hundred miles away from the nest... |
