Anybody heard of them??? Rowan Replicars
My father bought a Rowan Replicars Cobra back in about 1987. Now they are out of business. Has anybody EVER heard of them or do I have the only one ever made? They made Bodies and frames only. One piece interior connected to the body. Doors and hoods have very large loop hinges. Noted in the Certificate of Origin that both body and frame is manufactured without serial numbers. ANYBODY???

I have the original brochure, receipt and a few Kit Car Magazines from 1987 / 88 with their little adds. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow. I think it was built in Carolina. I'll get the info sometime tomorrow. Thanks for reponding.

I have been a member of this forum for over 11 years and today is the first time anyone but me has ever mentioned a Rowan. I thought I had the only existing one in the world until seeing Ozones photos. Even then I was slow to comment because it seemed so unlikely.
I purchased a Rowan in 1989. It came with the frame and body with doors, trunk and hood mounted and hinged with the above earlier mentioned uncomfortable large door hinges. Because he was late in shipping it, Steve also included a free aluminum dash. He also sent the front suspension from the Mustang II where he sourced the front cross member. The body and frame had no factory identification anywhere.
I believe the owner of the company was Steve Overcash. He also had some kind of business that had some association with clothing. The brochure shows a top but I never talked with him about that. The kit fit so poorly I would rather have tried to make my own. There is a gap between the body and windshield in the center of the windshield base. It was not until years later that I noticed the windshield in the brochure was probably from an MGB rather than an AC. His Cobra had a Cleveland and maybe an automatic transmission. I still have his phone number from back then and have been thinking about calling him just to see how he is doing and find out a few more details about his “original” . He was a nice guy to talk with. May try next week. Will let you know what I learn if anything.
I am glad to hear that other folks remember the car too. Please let me know if you have other questions.
Thanks
Rick

If you ever able to talk to him ask how many he made or if he made changes to the molds along the way to improve what he had. Maybe when was the last one made. I would really like to know more. Thanks on the info on the MGB instead of AC, how can you tell between them? what do i look for?

I know this thread is really old but I think I own a Rowan Replicar Cobra Replica; I picked it up last year and have been building it up. The car came with a manual that shows both RR and Everette Morrison chassis and has Steve's addresses and phone number on the first page, my chassis looks just like the RR one. The chassis came with leaf springs and a Mustang 2 front end. I have since converted it to a Jaguar rear end and put larger Sierra front brakes with 11" rotors.
The body is really heavy and is 2" thick in some places, the chassis is a combination of 4x4” and 4x2” square tube frame, I am adding additional reinforcement. The car came with a Ford Thunderbird BB 352 (300hp, 380flb) and a 2 speed automatic transmission. The motor runs really well, I dumped the 2 speed for a T5. It’s interesting that the manual stated the chassis and body weighs around 600lb, I can’t imagine what the total weight of the car is.
The build is coming along nicely; I am fabricating almost all parts apart from chrome and things that need to be bought.
Are there any other owners of RR Cobras?

FWIW, Salisbury is located in Rowan County, NC, just north of Charlotte. It's located along the NASCAR Corridor (I-85). I remember reading some time back that there was a Cobra builder in that area. Probably it was he.
