Default Drag Radials:

I am trying to find a D.O.T. drag radial as close in size to a 295x50x15 but I'm coming up empty. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hoosier, Nitto, Mickey Thompson and BFG all make a 275/50-15 DOT Drag Radial. No 295s in that size.

Hey Sal. 275's are to narrow, I want something to fill the wheel well. I can find non radials in that size. Maybe I'll change the fronts also, I don't know.

I don't believe the Avon CR6ZZ is considered a drag radial. However, it is a high-performance radial tire (probably about the best 15" high-performance radial tire on the market for Cobras).

I have the Avon CR6ZZs on my car. They are fantastic road race and street tires. I love them. However, they are not particularly good drag tires. I was only able to knock a tenth of my et using the Avons as opposed to Yokohamas. I just got a set of MT 325/50/15 drag radils. If I can squeeze them into my SPFs wheel wells I am going to see if I can lower my et some more without destroying my half shafts.

Didn't even notice it was you Joe! Long time no talk.

What size CAN you fit? I saw some 315s and 325s as well, but I don't think any were 15s.

What's your intended use for the tire? If you don't plan to throw the car into turns and just want some straighline traction, I'd go with some Quick Times, or a similar bias ply tire.

See my gallery on how to shoehorn MT 325's under an SPF. Also running DRs on the front, too, and the grip is pretty awesome once you get them warm by "scrubbing" them while you drive slowly (think F1 cars on their warm-up lap). The MT is a more economic alternative to the Avons, which are arguably superior (based on results I have read here).

Yeah, I'm just waiting for my half-shafts to explode.

As I recal, I have BFG Drag radials that are 315 50-15. They fit & look great. Pretty wide too. But I am just going from memory, I could be wrong.

Joe,

I've got a set of the MT 325s sitting in my garage waiting on 2293 to come home. If you want to see them up close you are more than welcome to take a look. I'm at the north end of Gilroy. I unfortunatetly also have the 26" SR tires from MT for the front, they are tiny compared to the 325/50s. Will have to change something out.

Well it looks like it's going to be the 325x50x15.
BFG discontinued the 315's.
I just switched the stock SPF sidepipes for the Buckshot ones and the car now spins the tires in 3rd gear

Daryl, thanks for letting me take a look at them.
