Default Shipping wheel/tire combo

I sold my OEM 15 BDR wheels and tires and since I have never shipped such a combo before, what do i do just take the wheels and tires into Fed-ex and tell them they need shipped to Florida, kinda lost on this one.

Default Package like Tire Rack

I've bought a few wheel/tire combos from Tire Rack. They simply take two cardboard disks a bit smaller in diameter than the tires, place one on each side of the wheel/tire and tape them around in three places. In other words, tape the wheel "in thirds". Use good strong tape, either packing or strapping tape and overlap each course of tape so that it goes all the way around the wheel. The tire circumference (tread surface) has tape on it in the three areas where the tape has crossed it, but is otherwise unprotected. I've both shipped and received wheel/tire combos like this with no problems. Your biggest problem might be to find the cardboard disks, but a UPS or other packing store might have them. Fortunately for me, I received mine from Tire Rack before needing to ship any, so had some disks on hand.

Also, if you have the option to ship them from your employer's shipping room, the rates will be substantially less than if you take them to a local UPS store. From my experience, nearly half!

Good luck!

Chuck

Sold my F 250 20" rims on ebay and then sent them. I did just about the same as CHuck said. I cut out a cardboard disk just a bit smaller that the tire. I then wrapped the wheel and tire pretty well with shrink wrap (home depot or Uhaul has it) then I used packing tape on top of that. I wrapped each wheel individually. Each one was 100 pounds, It cost close to three hundred bux from west Coast to East Coast. ANd if you work somewhere you can send em' out from, that would def be cheaper!!! Good Luck Ryan

I used Forward-Air to ship wheels with mounted tires across country. This was 5 or 6 years ago, however it was significanly cheaper than UPS/FedEx/DHL, etc... I straped the stack of 4 onto a pallet, then wrapped them with that shipping celophane.

Good luck,
