CSX2007 would have been a 260 cu. in. car.

The first 75 cars of the CSX2000 series were made with 260ci; then, they switched to 289ci for the remainder.

You've never heard of a 260ci Ford engine or a 260 Cobra?

What number did the side vents start?

Approximately the first 150 cars had no side vents. it is not quite clear, but it looks like they started with CSX2150.

(excluding the Lemans replicas in that early series, which had the oversized side vents)

From what I understand, the 260's were faster than stink. I remember driving a Sunbeam Alpine (not the Tiger) in high school, and it flat-out hauled. I can only imagine the jaws dropping when ol' Shel trotted out the first 260 serpent.

JC,

The 260 was actually preceded by a 221 C.I engine, but I don't know if or how many 221s actually made it into cars. I have seen some 1963 Fairlanes I think it was with the 260, fender badges and all that came from the factory.

Some of the earliest Mustangs had 260's as well.
