				 Camera & Mount
 Hey guys (and gals)
What type of cameras and mounts are you using to video tape your track runs?

Looking to attend some events this fall and would like to attach a camera to the roll bar.

I use an I/O Port Roll Bar Camera Mount and a small digital tape camera. I like it except for the fact that there's no provision for a remote microphone. As a result, the sound of the engine is masked by all the wind noise up around the camera. Here's a link to one of my videos on youtube.com . The originals are much higher quality. Click here .

I have a JVC model GR-D350U digital video camera and love it, good video quality, 32X zoom, which I rarely use, very good microphone and it has the place beneath it for a tripod mount..... Cost less than 300 bucks, tapes are 60 minute and the battery generally will last about the same between charging....it's small and light weight and suprisingly very vibration free.
I have it in my race car and took a thin peice of metal and belt in an L shape and attached it to my roll bar with muffler type clamp on one side and the camera mounts on the other side......

 Camera------------$279.00
 Camera mount-----$1.25
 in-car video-------PRICELESS

and if you have a big screen tv, say 50 incher or more, you'd swear you were sitting in the car with me..........

 Tommy,
Can you tell me more about the I/O port rollbar mount? I actually have a small cannon video camera that uses the 20 min mini DVD that I think may work (it also has a remote mic plug)

I think several places sell the I/O Port Mount. Here's a link to one: Click here .

				 Modular Camcorder Mount
 BDR 561,
I use a modular camcorder roll bar mount made by www.fourtreks.com . Nice solid mount and it looks good too! My video camera is a Panasonic PV-DV203D, purchased at Costco a few years ago. It does not have a remote mic option, so it gets wind noise. The next video camera purchase will definitely have it! I have taken a few videos with it attached while on the track, on club cruises and I am real happy with the results.

That is a VERY cool mount. If you can use an external mic hook up - lay the mic on the floor, in the glove box, or even the trunk (as long as it doesn't roll around) - point being - get the mic out of the wind for an excellent soundtrack.
What also might be nice is to try and get a fish eye or wide eye lens adapter for a more cinematic look.
