I installed a Tilton HTOB in my Lakewood scattershield 7 years ago. I followed the instructions for installing and adjusting it, never had a problem. Bleeding it was no problem as I installed a 2' length of SS flexible hose and put the bleeder on the end of it. No need to even go under the car to bleed it.

The internal htob get a bad name because they were not setup properly, I get calls all the time about guys having a leak and 100% of the time it is due to the installation. Before I will sell them a new seal kit, I make them check there distances again and the bearing is generally to far away from the fingers of the clutch. jimig@standardtransmission.com

None of my friends or car buddies had any experience with the HTOB so I had to do it completely on my own. I read, then re-read the instructions before installing it. It has worked perfectly from day one. It appears that many people don't read or else don't follow the installation instructions properly.
