Kirkham in Shelby Registry

Thanks Johan. Yes, it shouldn't be confused with an original Cobra. Although the Continuations are identical in nearly every respect they are newer Cobras and have their identifications stamped in the chasis in known locations and the aluminum is a different gauge so its hard to pass it off as an original. Although its hard to believe some continuation Cobras are already 10 years old!!!. Mine is nearly 7. Man, some of the original SAI Shelbys are almost classics now too!!!

Whew! Now that we cleared that up.

As for our moderators clever suggetion about shipping to mexico so some hombres could do it, we are talking about aluminum bodies not glass. Second, in the 60's the bodies were outsourced to AC, and for the Daytona to other coach builders in Italy. There is a parallel for SAI outsourcing. My point is very simple. I would have SAI or one of their dealers do the rebody with a Shelby invoiced body. This is not because the Kirkhams couldn't do a fine job rebodying the car. I know they could. I just wouldn't put a Kirkham invoiced body on the car at Kirkham. I would buy the body from SAI and have a Shelby Dealer do the work. In short I would keep it in the family so to speak and keep it all Shelby. Otherwise I do think you dilute the car. But then again if you prefered a Kirkham anyway do what you want.

Finally, I would match a Finish Line or HRE prepared Shelby to a Kirkham any day of the week. No problem.
