I am still thinking about widening the scoop and turning it around. I have not even prepped the hood yet.

I did just what the photo shows but built the tubes out of fiberglass and painted same color as the car. I made leather boots to connect from tubes then into hat on the throttle body, it worked well. It was a pain in the butt as it had to be removed to adjust the valves or get to the V covers. I have a couple photos I will dig out and post.

1 728 kit
2 9703
2 9706
2 9184
2 91489
1 1768
1 4213
I ordered extra stuff because it is going to be custom and I want it to look good, in reality, you could just go with the 728 kit.
I am also putting a K+N stubstack on the carb, and a holley heatshield under the carb
I am also going to order from pegasus tomorrow 12 ft of the black neoprene 4 inch hose. This is going to do outside the wheelwells to the brake cooling duct holes both sides

vettestr,
I am interested in your air pleunum, I have had a look at Spectre's website for something like that, are those available, it looks good and appears to have more area over the float bowls etc?
I am wondering with an almost 700bhp engine in my car, that an air plenum maybe restrictive, but if the sizing is done correctly with the cold air bonus, it should work, the only way will be to compare lap times or dyno I guess!

Dyno wont give the answer Ant as it cannot replicate the dynamic airflow into the plenum /airbox, going have to rely on EGT, Plug readings, Lap Times, etc for this one . Which means the cars going to have to be on the track!!!

Dyno?
Jacmac,
You are right about track time, what ever way I look at it especially with trying to obtain cold or ambient air, driving the car is the only way of experimenting!
From a restriction point of view (stationary vehicle) the dyno may indicate general suction of a direct ducted tubular filter system, compared to the present 2 ply 14" X 3.5" K&N, incidently that air filter had "no power loss" on the dyno compared to no air filter at all.
I was intending on having air filters in front of radiator, which isnt really a cold air system.
If I could bring back the air filter/ducting to level with front of carb or back more, it would make a huge difference to the size of the front of the scoop, but would make no difference to driver visual height, due to the RamSC having a steeper bonnet angle. My issues are only aesthetic

I sent an inquiry to Spectre regarding performance improvements using the Muscle Car Cold Air Intake, reply below:
" Through our testing, we have found gains of 1.5 - 2.0% for every 10deg or so the intake temperature is reduced. The latest car that we have tested on the dyno with a Muscle Car Cold Air Intake was a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro with a 383CI. The kit gave us close to a 20HP difference, when compared to the stock setup sucking in hot under hood air. We do not have any published data to send you, as of yet. We are still going over all of our numbers and trying to get them in a readable format, which we can release to the public. I hope that this answers your questions. If you have any further questions or comments, then please feel free to shoot me an email at georgel@spectreperformance.com or give me a call at (800)-821-4868 ext 336 "
Thanks
George
