Thanks Jeff! Your Golds look awesome too!
Johan: You just made my day. My wheels are not original mags. They are older Halibrand reps, 6 pins. I found the right color after months of searching. Painted them and then used a scotchbite to scuff just slightly through the finish to aluminum to get a little of that petina effect. Love the old corroded mag look and think I came pretty close.

The Paint is in a spray can by Plastikote, called Hi temp "Natural Cast Finish". Requires very little prep time, easy to spray, covers nice and adhesion is incredible. It is also oil and brake fluid resistant. On the outside of the wheel where it is normally polished, I applied just enough to cover evenly, then scotch brighted until I could see just a little bit of the aluminum showing through. It really does look authentic to the old corroded mag wheel.

Johan, are you saying they have partially used Billboards laying around as well? With the rain tread?

I have been to a couple of Vintage races here at NHIS. Had all of the Hoosiers you could walk off with, but nothing that comes close to Cobra sizing and nothing with tread.
Jamo: I did take a couple of close ups. Will post them when I can get home to my lap-top.

Goodyear Billboards...
Glad I could help, Dave... Lookin' good brother...I like the "scruffy" look. You told me you were looking for an "old competition" look, and I believe you nailed it pretty well. Like I said in my PM...the only thing you need is to lose the winshield and find a competition style wind screen...the little curved one that many of the comp cars ran in the mid-60's....that would complete the illusion. You car has a very vintage look to it...glad my tires worked out so well for you.
Look forward to meeting you at Mid-Ohio and LCS in June next year!
PS..I just noticed where you left my "RR" I wrote in the on the right rear tire. I'm sure you noticed all four were labeled at to which corner they came off...very vintage looking. You've got a good eye, Dave.

Thanks Fred! Lovin the tires. Put about 75 miles on them this weekend despite the cold. Already better than the BFG's I had. They were a big hit at breakfast too! Man, what I had to go through to get them on the car so quick. All worked out though and very pleased.
Someday I'll have the windscreen on there. My wife likes to ride with me a lot, and that wouldn't fly real well with her. Tough enough as it is on the hair, you know?! Some day!
