Default Another dull movie with cobra replicas...

I just rented a movie called "redline". It has a couple of cobra replicas in it and a ford gt.

The movie is mostly silly and dull, even with lots of scenes of scantily clad women.

There is a street race with a cobra replica, a corvette and a ford gt, that is ridiculously moronic since they are racing a downtown area and driving blindly though busy intersections. The cobra and vette are playing bumpercars. The cobra ends up crashing into a parked 60s mustang before the finish line.

The story is basically a girl mechanic in a rock band who's father was killed in a stock car race is tricked into driving in a race against a recent iraq veteran's brother. The brother dies in the race and the girl ends up unconsious in the crash and then kidnapped as sort of a race trophy by the owner of one of the cars. Iraq veteran guy plans on killing criminal uncle who had his brother racing, but ends up rescuing kidnapped rock band mechanic girl. Evil uncle then kidnaps girl's mom to trick girl into racing again, because he has to pay off huge debt.

The movie is mostly worth skipping...

Thumbs down

Yup, I agree! Pretty poor movie!

The funniest part about this movie is that some producer actually SOLD a bunch of stupid investors on that whole storyline/concept. Thank you for giving us all a warning so that we don't lose another 2 hours of our lives watching this POS.

Apparently the producers could not even interest some companies in having their brand name products in the movie. So there was a prescription bottle of "hiagra" and rock band mechanic girl's dad died while driving a "ncscar" stock car. Well I may have those spellings a little wrong, but they were definitely not spelled with the real/original brand names. I suppose they were replica brand names.

I really don't think telling you about the movie can spoil it for anyone. Mostly it may save you the time to watch something better.

But perhaps by lowering your expectations this way, you might actually enjoy the movie more if you view it in a different way. I've heard that that there was a movie made back in the 50s or 60s meant to discourage kids from getting into drugs called something like 'reefer madness'. Apparently if you think of that film as a comedy, instead of a tradegy, it is apparently quite watchable.

First off I totally agree with the comment made so far. I made 3 attempts to plow through it but could just not get it to hold my attention. The funniest thing to me was what happened during a promotional event for the Movie. Eddie Griffin managed to slide out of control while driving the Enzo and crash it head on into a concrete barrier. Interesting thing was that the camera coverag of the incident was pretty good. There was even one camera man standing right behind the barrier who did not even flinch when the car hit. Media was playing up the $1MM price tag of the car. I think the director made a calculated marketing move for the movie. Wreck the car, collect the insurrance, and sit back and watch while Fox News and CNN run the clip of the car from your new movie about 10 times a day for 3-4 days. You just can't get free advertizing like that! Too bad our innocent rival the Ferrari had to pay the price.
