You won't really find a used one much cheaper.
I think your right, been looking for awhile when wife is not around..LOL |
Update...... after staying up way to late last night I have found a couple of dealers up north willing to sell at MSRP... one for $1000 under MSRP with 200 miles on it... looks promising. I was told that the 07's could have a tranny issue along with some of the early 08's I now need to free up some funds so I can complete process... will sell a Backdraft hopefully. probably this one..

The best place to investigate the issues, if any, is StangsUnleashed / Team Shelby
its a great resource and pretty much where most of the information on these cars can be found. I don't know anything about a tranny issue and have friends that have early, mid and late 05's and mine is an 08. They are saying the 09's are coming. THe only issue that I wish I had thought about with the shaker 500 when I ordered mine is if I had gotten the basic non 6 disc radio I wouldn't have that black little satellite antenna on my trunk. And like you I mostly listen to talk radio..but in this car I find myself on older rock and 60's music :) Matt |
TRS900 your comment has merit
"I was told that the 07's could have a tranny issue" my buddy has '07 with 700 miles and has already replaced the clutch, shift linckage twice, and had some tranny issue, I am not sure what the tranny issue was, but that is why he took it back in the first place and Ford told him he needed a new clutch and did the shift work. He told me that Ford has been great to deal with. Also when buying the GT500 new there is a gas guzzlar tax!!!!!!! A couple of Gs!!!!!! I have a question about the Hertz and the Shelby GT other then cosmetics and the auto transmission are there any mechanical differences, and is the Hertz sent to the Shelby shop in Las Vegas for tuning? |
Interesting thread. Guess we are all cast from the same mold more or less. I've been sitting with a cup(s) of coffee surfing the web looking at and for GT500's for or around MSRP for the opposite reason's posted by trs900 down in sunny Florida.
I'm up north on Long Island and I don't seem to use my roadster much. I have to admit that it's like a project in itself just going for a ride and it was my only (hotrod) till the master plan was put into effect about a year ago. To suppliment the roadster I purchased a garaged kept 96 Cobra Mustang and justified the plan to the wife that on days that it was to hot...or...to cold...or to whatever we could go to the local shows etc. in the Mustang with air/heat and her hair intact and it has been a nice combo. Since I (we);) purchased the Mustang I seem to use it about 80% of the time so as much as I want to keep the roadster the NEW master plan is to sell the roadster and the 96 Cobra and purchase a GT500 if one can be found for around MSRP. I slid the copy of Mustang Enthusiast Mag over to the wife at dinner which features all the current digs from Shelby for her to GET the idea of the NEW master plan:LOL: Trouble is...I've let go of cars that I wish I had kept, the Cobra roadster is hands down the coolest car I've ever owned and think I'll miss it alot every time I see one but I do like seat time and the Cobra Mustang has extended time behind the wheel. The other NEW master plan(B) is to keep the roadster and the 96 Cobra and add a 08 Softail Custom to the mix... More coffee...more pacing... Dale |
Last 24 hours I have found more than 1 at MSRP all out of state.. Ohio, etc.. will have to drive - fly or have it shipped sight unseen.. since its a new car shouldn't be a problem.. deals are out there you just have to look and then when you find it you have a descision to make.. LOL maybe I should ask my wife what to do, spend money on the house or get another toy...second thought maybe I won't ask her...

After the way the NIKKEI looks today and the prospects for Wall Street this week, I'm sure you're going to see something under MSRP pretty soon!! Any dealer who doesn't want to move cars right now is crazy.
Use my Dad's purchasing strategy....hand them a business card and say "give me call when your ready to sell.":LOL: |

keep the roadster, sell the '96 mustang, and buy a new (or 07) 500. You won't regret the decision!! So far I've talked my way out of my only 'pull over'.... ;) :D 80 mph is perfect cruising speed. Handles ok on the track. Road course better than strip! Need about a mile track to get any traction and build up speed. Altho' forgot to turn off the 'traction control' on the strip runs. Regarding a road course, if the turn isn't too tight it does ok, but i am pretty cautious and didn't push too hard its first time out. Great on the straightaways, after you've got 'er rolling! Won't drag it anymore, just did it for fun and to say i did it. Probably will do another road course. But.... for great cruising around, weekend fun car, and 'date car' you can't beat it. I don't drive it in the rain. Must be a purty day down here in Texas for me to get out! LOVE the AC. love the satellite. (shaker 500 was enough for me when i ordered) listen to 'oldies' and cruisin' cd's, like the rip chords, and any other hot rod car cd's i can find. Even have a Peter Frampton cd in there right now..... ;) Have over 3000 miles, and have not noticed any problems with clutch, tranny, but have to say I probably wouldn't know what was wrong with it if it did.... Other than, "clutch doesn't work" or whatever. The clutch takes some getting used to at first. What somebody posted above. Actually 'killed it' by stalling a couple of times. Clutch takes a lot of travel. Don't know another word for what i'm describing. Am used to it now, tho'. The backseat holds my two girls, and the passenger my son w/out a license yet. Pretty large trunk, so far fits all the junk i've needed to put in it so far. Beginning to find a nice variety of hotwheels, matchbox's, and 1:18's etc to add to my garage collection. Probably the car i'll keep the longest out of my 3 toys. oh yes. Have let hubby drive it, once on this one. :) Kristen ps. shifting in the 500 is very exciting! Hearing everything grumble and pull is quite exhilirating. :D oh yes. another thing. I have heard if you want to lower it, (which i would like to do) it is more complicated than just 'lowering' the springs. There appears to be a good bit of suspension work that needs to be done. oh, and putting on an exhaust system would be perfect and make the car sound even better! That's also something i'd like to do. I think my Cobra mechanic, Rob, at KCR in Plano can do both but i'm not sure. |
Talk about the stock market they are predicting around 400 point drop out of the box
|
Just watched a previously titled (used) yellow with black intertior and black cnvt. top 2007 with 427 miles, shaker 500, no stripes go through the auction. It was bid to 49K and was a NO Sale (didn't hit the reserve).
|
I thought that the 07 GT500 was 500hp, and the 08 is 540hp. Is this right?

Mark thats amazing that it did not hit reserve.. next time I doubt it will bid as high.. I have received several offers at MSRP on Brand New no mile (8 miles)non demo 08 GT 500's all up north 1100 miles from me, looking in Georgia as we speak.. would prefer one in Florida - Georgia so I don't have to freeze my butt off..and drive on slick roads bringing car back after flying in... will keep all updated.. I have wanted one of these for awhile but some how it got put on back burner probably due to prices if I remember correctly..
|
What is the difference between the gt500 and the gt500KR??
Cost suspension weight gears engine mods etc etc 540 hp is sweet |
Damn Georgia dealer just sold White coupe but offered me a Black coupe same options at MSRP $46,880 .. really don't want Black even though they are very sharp when clean...
|
I stopped in a dealer yesterday and there were 3 on the floor. I couldnt believe it, they were marked $30,000 over sticker. 76 for a car with a sticker of 46.
|
For the most part, dealers SUCK... Those 3 will stick right where they are and I hope the dealer pays floor plan charges on them for a months before being able to sell one at MSRP...
The yellow Cnvt that went through today was a shock to me... No options to speak of, OK color... They should have taken the 49K and ran... Maybe they will work a deal post sale? Two coupes running later this week, both on MSO's, I will keep you posted of the $$ |
