Any 08 GT 500's going for below MSRP yet
http://i6.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/ca/25/0b0d_12.JPGBeen looking at posssibly getting one as I need something with A/C to keep me cool here in the hot Florida sun..sorry for those up north but I served my time years ago. I have noticed 08's popping up on Ebay at what seem to be decent prices. if you own one is there anything you like or don't like about it.. New 08 Corvettes are being discounted heavily also right now but I still have a full head of hair and probably woundn't look right in one..LOL

trs900,
I bought an 08 GT500 in December for 3K over MSRP. For California that is a good price. I love the car. The torque band is very wide. Pulls real hard in 2nd and 3rd. A couple of things: the dual disk clutch engages higher than I'm used to so starts in first takes some getting used to. The TKO6060 6 speed shifts are short and true. It is great fun. Only other thing is the spacing of the fender lips to tires are too high. I'd like to drop the front about 2 inches and the rear about an inch and a half. But I don't want to mess up the ride quality. The ride now is stable and firm yet not harsh. I've heard Eibach makes a set of lowering springs so I need to find someone who has installed them to see how they effect ride quality. Until then stock springs stay in. Hope this helps, FIA Mike |
I have noticed some Dealers advertising them in the Mustang / Ford Trader magazine at what seems to be very close to the MSRP price I have heard. Some private parties are still to far above it for me. I believe a few dealers have some they need to move.

Thanks for the reply.. the picture is one on Ebay for $48,000 a dealer in Mississippi I thought it was a new one = demo but it has been registered already so it would be considered used.. has 2100 miles or so.. if I buy used from a private party anywhere and register it in Georgia theres no sales tax.. here in Florida it would be around 7% =$3360 would buy some nice extras for car.. I hate paying a tax on used car when i know it's been paid once before...sometimes you just have no choice, here locally (Palm Beach County)all of the taxes seem to go to suppport crooked politicians, 2 just got 5 years for under the table deals, it took the FBI to nail them now the rest are shaking in there boots.. LOL

I don't think you'll come across any for BELOW MSRP, that's wouldn't make any sense.
As for the "extra change", I can add about 140 rwhp tp that car for you for about $1500. :3DSMILE: |
Tim, a Cobra buddy of mine, just traded for a 07 GT 500 with 10 miles on it. He said he did 140 in 4th and it was still pulling strong. He claims it rides better at 140 than most cars do at 70. I think he is going to keep this one. He is a straight up car guy! He traded 5 cars for the GT 500 and still has 5 or 6 left.
Black with white stripe. Car came from Kansas to an Alabama Mustang dealer, who Tim traded with. Dwight |
I would think you could get one now for the ford discount price. That is if you know someone who works for Ford. They are pretty liberal with their employee/supplier discounts so it should not be to hard find someone to get it for you.
|
The 500's are absolutely excluded from all X Plan and employee plan pricing...PERIOD. I ordered mine for 5K over but I got exactly what I wanted. There are MSRP deals out there but you have to be willing to take what the dealers have..many times that means the SHaker 1000 for $1500 more and the nav for another $3K more.
|
I can vouch for the ride quality. At 118 it was as smooth as can be. Thought I was doing 70-80MPH. My ERA FIA at that speed was a hand full to say the least. The GT500 isn't as "cool" as the FIA but sure more civilized. Now if you had both that would be the deal. Sadly I parted with the ERA last year. Just wasn't driving it enough to justify keeping it.

Don't need the shaker 1000 or the Nav as I stay on roads I know and must be getting old as I listen to talk radio most of time and 1000 shaker might be a little over kill, besides that the exhaust note is music to my ears. I am pretty basic and a regular GT 500 would probably do the trick, also have been looking at the roush Stage 3 weighs less and also costs less, just missed a 07 427R with 257 miles on it still on MSO around Tampa sold for $38,900 I do like the 2 tone seats in the Roush especially the red one, now I just need to sell some property to free up a few bucks... anyone want some Florida swamp land with an excellent veiw of Gators and I don't mean the foot ball team..LOL

If these cars only weighed 3,400lbs...

Even the boys on BBC's Top Gear prefer the Stage 3 to the GT500. It handles better, is over 500 lbs lighter, lower rear gearing, and it qualifies for Ford discounts because it is still considered a GT. |
Sal I don't know much about the 2 cars, I guess I watch to much Nascar.. i always though Roush was top notch, goes to show you how much I know... always willing to learn more though.. so the Roush is just a GT with a blower..hell might as get a GT and add a huffer.. nothing like the real thing

The GT500 is a built motor, 6 speed, supercharged and intercooled car right from the get go. Off the showroom floor, it's the most powerful Mustang you can buy to date, has a full Ford warranty, and is ready to modify without worry. Why do you think the older Roush Stage 3s didn't sell? They were $65k cars that were underpowered and all they had going for them was suspension. Then Ford comes out with the Terminator Cobra, and for $35k you got a factory built 4v motor, T56 trans, IRS, 4 wheel disc, supercharged and intercooled, with a full warranty, that makes way more power. Which would you buy? |
I think I really want the GT 500 now that I know more, I did not realize the Roush was just a stock engine with blower. Probably down the road it would be easier to unload a GT 500 also, now I just need to find the right one.. price will be important as wife is sick of me buying toys and not doing more around the house.. if you know what I mean.

Sal, Bone Stock, the Roush Black Jack beats the GT500...and for about 10K less. They both have the exact same power to weight ratio of 8:1 (Roush Black Jack has 430HP and Weighs in at 3450...GT500 has 500, and weighs in at a hefty 4000+...is that a car or a steam ship?...no wonder it take three miles to make a turn! ). Take that extra 10K you saved, put it in a Bond or Market fund, and in five years, at 8%, you have around 15K to put down on the next Mustang! Don't get me wrong though, I love the thought of owning a GT500...just not happy with the total package. No matter what...the next Mustang needs an independant rear suspension. I am tired of riding in a one trick pony. |

Of course, if you want to do some serious corner carving, the Roush wins hands down. |
