A decent 427 - not the worst, not the best, will go from zero to 100 mph and back down again to zero in less than 14 seconds. All thing considered, you can put together a pretty good argument that the 427 Cobra is the ultimate performance car, judged on any basis you want to name." Talking Gurney/Grant Targa Floria Cobra roadster

I don't have the number right here handy...I saw them in Italy in the 60's.. there were two cobras both light (portofino ?) blue...Phil Hill' had a yellow nose bar and Gurney's had a red one...Jesus, those cars were something, those big American V8 's (289's)would just shake the ground...the European's just went nuts over the sound...Dan was damn near a foot taller than most of them and looked over the top of the windshield...Grant drove like a man possessed...I though then that if I ever had a Cobra, it would look like that.. and so this month I will pick up a Superformance in those colors...going to be a Walter Mitty Kick in the butt !!!

Any of these cars would be a great tribute to the history whether street or comp. I would be torn between two of my favorites however the first would be tough to compete with:
CSX3020

Why?
Originally equipped 427 dry sump car with all the goodies, not S/C it's one of the few and proud true comp series, HD A-arms, all race equipment coolers and ducts, seat fits snug to my ass, sounds CRAZY mean, history with gentleman Tom Payne, and it match's my gorgeous red headed wife.
A very close second would be:
CSX2345

Why?
Unrestored and asymetrical to the tee, paint is bad, cracks, roll bar forward brace removed (history), suttle changes like steering wheel, dents, no doubt an original, and what a history.........to see this drift in corners will always be in my memory.
