For some reason the SPF coupes do not do well in WPB, can't quite place why, but that is two for two and two years running to boot.

Bill,
That was a GT40, not a coupe. The build had to cost at least $120, so that was a bargain! A SPF coupe two years ago in WPB went for $270k!

Well, yes it did, and no, it did not. The car in question (the one signed by Brock Yates and Hawked by olde CS himself at the auction) did indeed gavel at 270K, but to date, we have yet to see who actually bought it from either the skybox, or the pulpit. Rumor has it that Mr "J" himself is the owner and was bidding against himself, but I have no documentation to prove that allegation at this time. Of course I was there and did note two people who were bidding on it actively until it reached 138.5K, where they both dropped out as contending bidders. Once, twice, and all of a sudden the bidding picks back up but without a glance as to just who was bidding against who (not a phone bidder either as those are hawked as well over the speaker system against the audience to induce a live and in person counter bid whenever possible)........
As for the last coupe to go over the block, let's just say that in it's second year in a row, it failed to meet the sellers expectations (first year it did not hit 100K and was pulled from the auction pulpit and marked as sold, yet the same seller was back with the same car last year and while it did actually sell (I know the buyer), it did not reach even that 80K mark while on the stage and under the hotlights.

PS: The same things happened to the reproduction/continuation GT500E's at the BJ event....Someone bidding to "set the market price", which of course induced enough people to put down 100K deposits on more of them with CS leading the way. Funny thing is, that those cars all ended up being back at Unique and for sale within two weeks of the BJ WPB affair.........Let the buyer/bidders beware...............

Bill,
I think you mean Peter Brock, not Brock Yates... I thought the "Sebring Winner Recreation" was bought by the guy who owns the museum in Colorado (where he owns the whole town), but don't remember for sure... BJ is not a shot at reality and I know I would not come close to getting my investment back if I were to sell the car on ebay or anywhere else today. Glad I bought it to drive instead of as an investment!
