I just did mine...before I comment you should do a search on "billboard" or "letting"....there is a lot of information out there.

White latex paint and a small brush. Tried to get my daughter who was 13 at the time to paint the letters for $10.00 a tire. She make it all the way to GOOD YE before she quit on me. Good help is hard to find these days.

take vasaline and rub it around the area you don't want painted then get some rubber spray paint! faster and won't turn yellow in a few weeks.

How do you get the Vaseline off without smearing the newly painted letters?

You leave the vasoline on until the paint drys completely then just wipe the vasoline off.
Shines up the black rubber a bit at first but it'll soon get absorbed.

Sounds better than using tape...

Got my paint and brush ready, plan is to take off one tire at a time, bring it in the house, set it on the coffee table and have it. I reckon I should finish the project in well under a month (of Sundays).
