Default Holley 600 Vacuum Secondary Carb Question

I posted this over on FFCobra and thought that I'd ask over here, too:

Anybody have experience using a remanufactured carb?

I've currently got a Holley 650 double pumper on my Ford Racing 345-horse B-cammed crate engine. I'm using the 650 because it was on my old 331 stroker. The carb sits on top of an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake.

Although it runs pretty well, I've been thinking about trying a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb to see if it would be a little more "street friendly". Plus I think that the 650 with mechanical secondaries may be a little too big for my 302.

I've been looking at the new version of the model 1850 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb that Holley manufacturers. It no longer has adjustable floats like the older version did.

So any carb experts out there? Should I buy the new Holley 1850 without the adjustable floats? If not, does anybody have any experience with a remanufactured Holley 1850 with the old-style adjustable floats?

I definately want a Holley, no Edelbrock carbs for me. And I don't want a Street Avenger style carb. (I don't want or need an electric choke and don't mind having to tune an older version carb.)

If anyone has used a remanufactured carb, where did you get it and are/were you happy with it?

You will like the 600 alot better on the street. Tell them your combo and they can set it up for you.

Some years ago I sent off my 750 to one of the so called carb experts to do his magic on it (he only ruined a prefectly good 750), and the 7 day turn-a-round turned into three weeks, so, I went to Auto Zone and asked about a rebuilt carb. They had 3 or 4 Holley 600 vac.sec. rebuilt carbs on the shelf, very inexpensive, so I bought one to put on my car to get by till I got my 750 back...
Turns out, it was one of the best carbs I ever owned, ran perfect rright out of the box and after much anguish with a highly modified piece of junk 750, I put the rebuilt 600 back on the car and ran it for years...never had a problem with it... then a buddy gave me an old 600 double pumper he was throwing away, I rebuilt that one myself and it has been on the car for 5 or 6 years now....ended up letting a buddy "use" the rebuilt 600 and I've not seen it since, only been 4 years now, guess I'll never see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take a look at the 0-4776C carburator at that Holley link below.

It's a 600 CFM double pumper with mechanical secondaries that is identified as Street/Strip.

I have dual 660's with mechanical secondaries on my car, and I love them. I have always preferred mechanical secondaries as my right foot controls when they open.

Yes, they do suck down more gas, but I didn't buy this car for gas mileage.

Just my opinion.
