Default Looking for ???? for potential body shop

Hello All,

I am in the process of interviewing some body shops in my area. I would like to find out what are some question I acan ask them in regards to find out if they are qualified to deliever a good job.

I have seen a few shops and one pretty much stands out from the rest. I was able to see a vehicle which was painted and not even wet sanded or buffed and looks very good considering.

I am definitly looking for the wet sand polish approach to give it that perfect finish.

But I have no idea what questions to ask.

Are there any questions you wish you would have asked and remembered after the fact?

Thanks for the help

Thumbs up

Unless you really know that end of the business, I wouldn't get to hung up on the processes the shop uses, but rather the end product. Ask for references from several of their customers and ask to see their cars and paint job and to talk to them. Most shops will be more than happy to have you talk to a previous satisfied customer. Of course, if their not willing or have no references, it's probably a good sign to move on to another shop.

Two part paints-EVERYTHINg, FROM SEALERS TO PRIMERS TO BASE COATS TO CLEAR COATS. If any shop tells you that you can get the same results out of a single stage paint. Say thank you and run away!

The epxy's or two stage paints will help the "bleeding" through, matt printing minimal. Major failures for fiberglass cars!
Painting Cobras and street rods for nigh onto 40 years now!
DV
PS-Wet sanding and buffing the finish product should be an absolute-not an option!

Have you done any paint jobs or body work on fiberglass cars?

Oh sure we have ....

Can I have their name and telephone number?

I have not yet taken the car to the body shop to get an estimate.

My body is in very good shape. Body lines are perfect and I would say it needs minor prep to begin painting.

Those of you that have sent you bodies out to get paint what is the going price for a very good paint job.

Just tring to get an idea

Probe,
EM makes a very good and heavy body but still needs a lot of blocking to get it straight.
Not the cheapest, not the closest, but the best Send it to Pentwater, Michigan that is. Of course you will have to be behind Pittsburg and Ill. right now.......
Mr Mustang: you have a way of getting the point across quick and straight forward!
2K or 2X system please!
