Starter / Solonoid Help

A buzz like that usually indicates that, under load, the voltage that actuates the solenoid is too low. When the solenoid closes (if the starter is working), the high load causes the voltage to drop. This could be a bad battery, battery connections or bad ground.

Yup, I would check those first as well. Amazing what 1/2 less volt will do to your starting capabilities. That and a loose wire.

It is the older style Ford starter with no solonoid. The solonoid is separate on the fender. I will check everything again to ensure that all is clean and tight. If that does not help, then I will smack the solonoid with a screwdriver.

Take the battery out and have a load test done on it. Fully charged is not always FULLY charged...if you have a bad cell..replace the battery and your problems are over...If all else checks out ok, tight clean cables on the battery. Tights clean chassis ground...Correct output from your alternator to charge the battery, then look into the solenoid...
