How bad is your gas mileage?

If you want acceleration get a big engine and short gears. If you want mileage get a smaller engine and tall gears. Rolling down the highway my SPF (Windsor power) turns 1,900 RPM at 60 MPH (3.73 & 0.68 5th gear Tremec). I can get into the lower 20 MPG range.

I just checked mine the other day. I was pleasantly surprised. My stock stroked 427 was worse.

482cu in FE, 11:1 compression ratio, 2x4s 1200cfm, 1:1 4th gear top loader, 3.31:1 gear, 26.5" tall tire
cruisin' 3000rpm @70mph with short passing burst.

12 mpg

city; don't know

I only checked to see what the range is on a tank full for trips. Pump gas of course.

466 ci, dual quads, 275/60 -15 rear tires.... 3.73's and .68 5th gear.. 17 mpg highway

changed to 3.27's and .82 5th gear .. 15 mpg...highway, although much better drive ability.

Ditto for me. I can get about 24 MPG on the highway. Around town? Who cares ... never checked it ... I'm having too much fun but its probably in the 12 to 15 MPG range.
