I couldn't be happier with my Goodyear G7 Blue Streaks. It's the same compound as the BB but just a chicken-scratch tread, no open grooves, so stickier. It's the tire most of the vintage racers use. Not for wet weather.
During 3 days at Hallett, I ran out of guts before I ran out of grip. At the limit, they just slowly kinda squirm sideways. Lots of notice.

Anything wrong with the following logic? Since Cobras are usually only driven on warm, dry days, the annual mileage is fairly low. So, you might as well put on soft, sticky performance tires that will give more traction but won't deliver a lot of miles. With a harder, longer life performance tire, in a couple years the rubber would have aged signifcantly to lower their performance, and you'd want to replace the tires anyhow to get their performance back.

I totally agree and it's why when I had 17" wheels on my car I ran Nitto 555RII DOT road racing tires on the street. So what if they only last 8 or 10k miles? That's 4 years of driving for me, at least. One of the funnest things about the Goodyear BB tires is that with my IRS suspension, sticky tire, and soft sidewall the car just plants like a old 280Z and launches. Even when the tires start to break loose a bit they are still clawing for traction and not just spinning like a hard rubber roller skate (BFGs). Besides, with a 90" wheelbase I prefer to limit surprises as much as possible. They are not a perfect tire and have a few compromises, but I love them.

Another vote against BFG Comp T/A. OK for cruising but worthless for everything else.
