All West Coast Owners should check their upper trailing arms.
I recently had to replace the upper trailing arms on my West Coast Cobra. The drivers side was completely bottoming out on the gusset, and had worn 1/2 way thru the tube steel. This car only has 3500 miles on it. If I had gone that many more it would have completely worn thru causing serious damage.
I will attach pictures of the damage caused and the new arm we fabricated to replace the old ones. Mine was built in 2005. I believe that there was a change at some point from a round arm like the one we fabricated to the rectangle arms we replaced. We also replaced all the cheap rubber bushings with nylon bushings.
The NHRA certified chasis shop that did the repairs wanted me to make sure I warn other owners, as this could have become a very serious problem. I uploaded the max number of pics I can. If anyone has the same problem and would like more info/pictures of what we did to repair it let me know and I will be happy to help.
Hi James
I have the same arms. What the heck was Vern thinking ? this whole setup suck's.
That looks like a good setup you did.
Brent
vern only thinks about womens underware. his grasp of other things leaves alot to be desired. if you have one of his kits from the past 2 years you will need to change the arms, or risk wrecking your car when the suspension bottoms out going over a dip. the joys of custom cars.
