Video- 60k Yates engine. Awesome sounding.
I have great speakers on my computer and this Cobra with a 60k ( )Yates engine sounds awesome !
It really turns my crank anyway.

There is something about the compression and the cams that makes Cup Engines sound soooo good.

Rick- I don't think NASCAR will allow the high compression. Thinks it's 9.1, but I 'me by wrong ?
I would appreciate it, if anyone knows more of the parts and specs. on this engine. Even the muffler sounds different. I like the crackle & pop sound.
Let's all discuss this engine, to find our what it is, parts, specs and parameters. To see if,.... we can bring the $$$ way down.
Maybe Keith Craft can give a better assessment about this engine and price?
Thanks,

I don't think that engine is 10.6:1. This one sounds a lot higher, like 11.5-12.5 to me.
It also didn't sound as "revvy" as the Cup engines that I've been around.
A set of those Yates heads on a street oriented SBF would make for an extremely lazy engine on the street. Too much port volume and not enough cubic inches to take advantage of it down low. I think this engine would be fussy at low rpms and may even make for a miserable street car.

Cup Ford engines are Cleveland based blocks (at least they were two years ago).

What they had in common with Cleveland blocks is the 9.200" deck height and the main bearing size. Otherwise, they're kind of a hodge-podge, with a Windsor block style, Cleveland deck height and mains, and a 4.125-ish bore.

That's why I posted it. One of my all-time favorite videos. Just watched it again for the umpteenth time, and I still get goose bumps!

I know this doesn't come close to the racing Cobra but, here's a little sound bite from my FE. I plan on filming some more next spring.
