i need a hood real bad and have spent a year trying to get one from jbl and don't think it is going to happen.
i know it is an outside chance but does anyone have one sitting around to sell or know of one or can make one? i don't know what else to do.
any help would be much appreciated.

I feel your pain!!! I have admired the engineering of the jbl. I am just finishing my own scratch built Cobra that uses a steel space frame with new Corvette drivetrain and suspension. I have also built several cars from scratch over the years and have gotten pretty good at fiberglass work.
If I remember correctly the jbl has a wider than stock body so a custom hood would have to be made. I have a hood mold that I could lay up an modify to fit your opening. The problem is that I would need to have the car on hand to fit it. I am in New Hampshire so that is not convienent. I am going to be at Run n Gun. If you wanted to bring the car their I could bring the hood skin and see whats involved. Just let me know. John You can call me at 603-504-4106 or email me at www.jmcbigbelly@yahoo.com

Just out of idle curiosity, what's the problem with JBL getting you a hood. Are they having problems?

NO, I fly for Continental.......Sorry to hear about the hood. Ever thought of paying these guys a visit, maybe it'll wake them up. What are they telling you?

i've thought about flying out a couple times but i don't think it would make a difference and i'm not fond of flying. our last conversation indicated the hood should be out 1st of this month and sounded pretty optimistic but i haven't seen it. i don't really focus on the why's of someone not performing their part of an agreement because it is usually just an excuse or multiples thereof and leads nowhere or gets into a p ssing contest and burns bridges. there are people associated with jbl who have been real helpful though.

Hey Mark,
If you lived closer we could pull a mold off my hood. I know how frustrating this can be but don't give up yet. Just keep bugging Dave and he will eventually come through. In the meantime, keep me posted with your progress.
Talk soon, John

John,
or better yet, pop a mold off of your whole car and sell it to JBL and their customers to pay yourself back for many years on that project!

Mark,
I to feel your pain with getting parts from JBL. They make a great racing chassis but fall a little short in some other areas.
I have a pretty good fiberglass guy working with me on mine. He has done some rather major modifications on my body and is competant. I suspect if you are interested he could make you one since my car is sitting in his shop. But he will charge you by the hour.
If Dave says he is getting a hood by the end of the month it would certainly be cheaper to wait on that.
Keep your pictures coming.
David

Good, But I really have not done any significant work on it in 3 or 4 weeks. Too busy at work. I would say that I am 90 to 95% thru with my build, minus the final interior and paint. I think that next week I will have some time to get some significant work done so I am looking for some progress in the build. I can all most smell the final product. Thanks for asking.
I am glad you got the hood from JBL. Talking to Richard and Dave at JBL is always a joy.
